Pick 6 is just currency to get talent on the list. In 2010 that currency was enough to secure Conca.

Given Conca has developed nicely, securing Conca with pick 6 would be the par result compared with taking the pick to the draft.

Obviously if we could get him for 24 that would be great, but would we accept that? I'd imagine a pick 6 downgrade would be a part of any deal.

We had to accept it for Ebert?

Id offer them 25 + Rosa or we pick him up in the PSD

We have the most salary cap room in the comp outside of GWS. If we circumnavigate GWS in the PSD (which will be fairly easy given they ignored a much better player in Tippett last year) we can just nab him for free by outbidding those before us.

Well we didn't have to accept it, but we did. We should have gotten far more than 28.

And given that Conca is best 22 in a finals side and we didn't consider Ebert to be so - objectively you would think Conca would have more value.

Don't get me wrong I'd love to secure him for 24 plus Rosa - but it just isn't going to happen IMO.

It will happen.

Richmond are in too bad a spot here.

We dont want Conca because he is mindblowingly awesome. We want him because they cant afford him and we can get him for cheap. The best thing we have to offer Richmond is salary cap room and that is what Rosa would represent. Lump his salary onto our space for next year and it does them more good then any extra 2nd rounder could do

Conca was on WC's radar back in 2010 but it's my understanding that he fell into their 10-15 category. Whilst I haven't followed Richmond that closely since, there seems no evidence to suggest he's moved out of this range either up or down. Combine that with the fact that he's OOC, then I would suggest his "value" to WC would be in the 15-20 range, meaning #24 is probably slightly on the "unders" side of fair.

Knowing WC, #6 and #24 for Conca and #11 would be the fairest for both parties.

However : from my discussions with certain people within WC, they are unlikely to trade out their 1st round pick this year - so they obviously have someone in mind whom they believe will go top 10. It makes a trade for Conca unlikely unless its on WC's terms.

There was a suggestion not long ago that Sinclair wanted to go somewhere for more opportunities. Richmond would be perfect for him, they've got almost no backup for Maric apart from an aging (and limited) Stephenson.

Would 24 + Sinclair be enough for Conca?

That's a good deal, I suggest they take it.

This would be our best case scenario, -
Ive heard on talking footy last night that Richmond have approached AFL for a "special part allowance" for Cochin to be paid outside the cap for a "mentoring role".
This is would be a slap in the face if the AFL fell for this .
They are obviously trying to get their stars under the cap.
Conga 's old man is an Eagles man, hes related to my best mate and hes told me they have had a good chat with their son about coming home, but hes loving it at Richmond ATM so I don't know if it will happen .
Time will tell, but the club and stadium been built near his family roots may actually help get him home.

I would have been able to deal with a pick 6+ for Conca and Richmonds first round pre-injury. However serious hamstring injuries not only are difficult and lengthy injuries to recover from, but also historically shorten careers.

So, the severity of his injury I think is now a key determining factor.

I'd rather use our 2nd round pick and see if we can target Shane Savage.
I believe he'd offer more of what we need at the moment.
Don't want Savage, just another turnover merchant.
Can we somehow send that metrosexual looking ash smith off in this deal? Really want him out of WC.
Nah.

I thought that was Martin and related to working with an indigenous mentoring organisation, (not mentoring other players at the club).
