Conca is much better value than Martin ! If Martin was to come to us the only reason would be to chase cash and in 3 years when he is 25 and in his prime he would screw us over and chase the cash again ! Conca is a wa boy who wouldn't cost us the world and we could get 150 games out of !
 
If its true that west coast offered a better deal to Conca to come home to be with family as well and he's had to think about it. I don't think he will be leaving the tigers then

Yeah I can't believe Freo have already signed him and sorted out a trade with Richmond right under our noses ... oh wait.

Not really, there's a pecking order at every club. Eg at Collingwood if Pendlebury and Sidebottom were out of contract do you think Sidebottom would be able to demand as much as Pendles? Only a delusional player with a big ego would eland more than one of the stars of his club or think they were more important.
 
I thought Richmonds big thing is to stick to their player management plan? So Conca moves up one spot in the priority list, gets offered a bit more but with Freo/WC/GWS apparently offering him big overs wouldn't they still have the same problem they had before?

I actually like how their Club is managing things. They have a good side with some very good pieces but need a bit of a top up to take the next step and they are being aggressive in trying to do that. If Martin and Conca both took their contact offers with team success in mind then Richmond would be laughing.

But then I see were Conca and Martin are coming from as well. It is what they do for a living and being offered such massive dollars would have to be tempting.

Yeah but Richmond are reportedly under-valuing conca. Maybe Richmond wont offer much more anyway and stick with their valuing of conca. It's interesting the effect free agency is going to have on list management. Don't get attached to players anymore I think.

Would also depend on their cap space as well, don't forget they also re-signed Riewoldt this year to a new deal on big bucks.

Not really. Fremantle are chasing a flag hard and are in a position to do so. Conca could bring something to their side that could turn them from prelim/ grand finalists to premiers.

We just finished 13th, so the age and maturity of who we pick up this year has to be a little less important.

Seriously what would you have them offer for him - Pick 6? Freo are in a much better position to be free to give their later pick for him - they are in premiership mode and it would be similar to the Wellingham deal.
 
I thought freo was chasing black from north Melbourne and there first rounder was tied up in that deal anyone else heard this!

Pick 6 seems far too high for Conca who, while demonstrating potential, is not a gun yet. Historically potential doesn't dictate trade value as much as proven ability & the deficiencies a club is trying to plug (ie trading high draft picks for a young ruckman, Etc.) And he is out of contract, which lessens the deal for Richmond.

Our second rounder plus a sweetener (late pick upgrade) should get it done if Conca names us.

But if its to be a bidding war, then it will be whoever offers Richmond the lowest pick. Is Conca really worth pick 6 if it came down to it?

Sorry to intrude but he was pick 6 in 2010 ..... don't think he has gone backwards as a player in 3 years either.
 
I think if conca leaves Richmond it would be to come to wa . Freo have no need for conca as the already have an abundance of inside mids and midfield rotations . He would be surplus to there needs when they are in desperate need of KPF and KPD . Sounds like media making up a bidding war !
