Not many stay on lists as long as reef has without becoming a best 23 player. Clubs def given him ample opportunities. He’s always had physical talent but similar to Allan can he convert that into footballing ability?

I have hope solely because as previously mentioned there’s been some good success stories of struggling players becoming handy defenders

Yes Jen, Reef was excellent and I believe he only played the first quarter, I might be wrong..... it's a shame he couldn't play the whole game he looked strong and confident. Good skills, rebounding defender and he nearly held on to that specky!

His fitness is going to be important this year. IMO he was nearly BOG in the first quarter if it wasn't for Buller's good start.

Thats correct. Only 1 quarter. Its the plan I guess to ease him slowly.
Saw him at QT break, lots of hugs and you knew he was done.
Hopefully a half or 3QT's next week.

The AFL and all the other comps have no idea how to run a competition

Media talk about players not spending enough time at the club, their off season is too long, then we have a half arsed VFL comp which surely doesn't help young players with their development.

There is no reason there needed to be a vfl bye during gather round. Only a select few players get to play in the state game anyway. Every club has a vfl list for a reason.
So while the afl team plays - the other 18 or so players get to twiddle their thumbs.

If we want that we'd just organise a game against another team. Meanwhile though Wade's probably pretty happy to get a bit more strength and condiitoning time iwth them.

Moore, Maynard, quaynor regulars. And reef doesn’t have the bulk to play frampton’s role imo

If all 3 are fit reef is depth atm. But given it’s Moore and Howe let’s be honest, it will be rare all 3 are fit.

Its looking likely next year's "opening round" will include all 18 teams, with still a focus on the northern states of course. But this should fix up the inbalance with the byes at least
