Love that Fly said: "He's the kid that's down here training on a Sunday when everyone else is at home on the couch."

That's HUGE to hear. No point having talent if you don't have work ethic, good to know Reef has both!
Agreed
Talent get you there. Workrate is what separates you from those that don't want it enough. Its what will make you succeed, or fail.

Absolutely. Makes me think of someone like Jaidyn Stephensen, had all the talent in the world - seemingly lacked the drive.

Yes two genuine star quality young players but just too damn lazy to care enough. :drunk:
Who knew footy was hard work. Some players just think talent is enough and the rest will come, but that's unfortunately not the way it works.

Or in Siers case, he just didn't really care
which was very evident when after being delisted, instead of trying for another opportunity; never nominated for the draft just straight to local footy.

Agreed - it's a tough gig nowadays - talent and a flashy turn of speed simply aren't enough anymore. As soon as a youngster pops up and starts to make a mark in the big league opposition spies and coaches start working out how to tear him down.

Only the hardest working and mentally strongest have what it takes.

Not everyone has this. Not talking the talent, but the off field stuff. How much do you want to improve? This kid does.

Reef McInnes’ development has Fly excited for the future.

“It’s affirmation for his pre-season.”

“He can come on, he can impact."

“His height is deceptive. He’s the same height as Checkers. And slightly smaller than McStay. He is a weapon.”

“You come here on a Sunday when everyone else is at home on the couch. He’s in here working. He’s that kid that you walk in and you go: ‘this kid is going to get the best out of himself.’ And we love that around our environment and he gets rewarded for that."

except He's a tad taller than checkers, suppose everyone is tall compared to fly haha

In a short period of footy (both weeks) Reef has had an impact. He constantly finds himself where the footy is and on at least two occasions this week could have taken a mark and had a shot for goal but left it for others (Mitchell and McCreery). He is a justified inclusion and I look forward to seeing him get a full run at it.

Agree, he's looked great as has been a difference maker - he'll be primed for a full game and not sure he has a matchup in the Tiger's backline if Broad doesn't play (Grimes generally goes to Jamie) - Whilst it's logical for Carmichael to replace Mihochek (if he doesn't come up), I wonder if we'll pick one of the guy's who performed well in the VFL on the weekend - bit concerned that Carmichael hasn't played much footy over the past month.

Reef would have to be a walk up start in the 22 if Mihochek doesn't come up. Not sure how a sub two weeks on the run would be overtaken? Should chekkers not come up (which I doubt) then Reef comes in and Carmichael would be the sub, for mine.

100% good post.

That mark he took on the lead in the last quarter shows just how dangerous he can be with his pace off the mark.I think he could be a very damaging player as a sub late in matches when the defenders from the other sides start to tire.Having said that,I would still like to see him get a full game at some stage.
