In case no one else has posted it... Reefs Mum is from the Philippines... That's the next Gen link... It was on the AFL site
My wife’s Filipino, I’m trying to get her on the Reefer train

Obviously got a package

is that elite 7.8 seconds over 20m, Bolt was 9 something over 100m
Obviously a typo. His time was 2.78.

Anyone hear Sheehan on SEN rave about Reef this morning, a beast inside and not even 18 yet, still growing and super quick first 20-30 “Pies will be kicking their lips” (something like that)

Still growing? Any chance he could end up KP size. At least initially he might be handy forward.

He only grew about half a this year, so unlikely he gets to true KPP size, but he’s a handy forward. I’d imagine they’ll try him in the same role as JDG initially while he builds his tank to a level that allows him to play midfield.

Simmlar Size to Darcy Forgaty

Not sure if sarcasm but incase it isnt it was 2.779 over 20m

looks to be a typo

Tall midfielder/defender who reads the game exceptionally well, wins contested ball and is one touch at ground level. Very agile for his height and is versatile, all attributes he demonstrated as a bottom age player in the Oakleigh Chargers premiership win in 2019 playing 12 matches averaging 14.7 disposals. Prominent in Futures match for Team Brown with 14 disposals and 7 tackles. Appointed captain at Oakleigh and Scotch this year before shutdown. Finished off the year with an elite 7.78 seconds for 20 metres at the NAB AFL Combine in Melbourne. Eligible under Next Generation Academy rules for Collingwood with his mother Melody born in the Philippines.

Sheehan has been busy keeping an eye on the AFL Draft combine and says there is a top quality athlete who is set to make his way to Collingwood via the club’s Next Generation Academy.

“His name is Reef McInnes,” he said on SEN Afternoons.

“He’s not 18 until December and he’s now up to 193 (centimetres). He did the quickest time of anyone but it was wind-assisted in the outdoors, so you’re kicking with a breeze with your sprint.

“All the times were pretty quick but he did 2.87 seconds for 20 (metres). Wow, you’re gone.

“He’s a Next Gen Academy to Collingwood. They might have got an absolute beauty here.

“There’s still a massive upside with this young fella. He’s a premiership player with Oakleigh last year as a bottom-ager and he’s done super well with the way he presented the other day.

“We loved his versatility last year. A tall midfielder who can probably play across half-back as well.”

So appointed Captain before covid in both school and Oakleigh. Shame footy ended.

Is it a really strong draft, or are the write ups just over the top? You read the write ups on this kid and he sounds like a top 5 pick.

Sheenan makes any Prospect sound like a Top 5 Pick

I think its accurate. yes its compromised because of the academies/NGA/FS... but I dont think the draft is all that bad, I think pretty even, especially after the first 5-6. I'd say the top 30 or so are all very talented.

Thats right. Reef has wings.

in seriousness, he still was impressive, wind or not. Especially for someone of his size and build.

Rumor is they’re not so much wings as severely deformed shoulder blades. I guess in the right light they could be mistaken for such. Concern is they’ll cause longer term injury worries. Hopefully won’t impact his draft potential.
