19 pages and I’ve clearly been distracted by the Trump cult...
Who the hell is Reef?
Is this an alternative name for Daicos?
Are we trying to throw off the opposition?
A video may help me. Otherwise I need to go back to the “Biden won, get over it” thread....

True, but fingers crossed he slides to the second or even third round...
It’s an interesting thought. We hope he slides because that means we pay less. The more he slides though means the people who are best placed to assess him don’t rate him so we are only getting a 20% discount on an ordinary type. Are we better getting a 20% discount on a pick 8 because the industry rates Reef?

I know wherever he goes he is the same player but if he slipped to 3rd round it means the best judges don’t think he is that good. Not sure what the answer it to these musings

It is something the club apparently learnt after letting Cripps fall through their fingers said they really liked him but Hine and Rendell thought he didnt have an AFL tank.
I haven’t heard this before. That hurts. What a beast of a mid he is.

This is weird.

We would know more about Reef (and his worth) than any other club. If he isn't worth pick 7 and is bid on at pick 7, we won't select him and Essendon will be left with a player who is inferior to who they could have picked. They know that, and therefore would be stupid to do it.

I don't see that we would have any dilemma at all in not selecting him. That's more a problem for some interstate clubs who would possibly be willing to overpay for academy talent due to the issues they can have with trying to keep players happy away from home. We don't have that problem.

We've just proven that sentiment doesn't matter one toss to our list guys, even for our own players. We don't owe this kid anything.
Of course not, if we don't take him - move on.

He might be rated by them exactly at that pick.

Like Dogs bid on Dunkley and D.Moore.

Keep in mind the "industry" also didn't rate pendles at 5 either, infact they mocked and laughed at the selection.

Whilst I do agree with your premise its not a hard written rule that the consensus is always right. Sometimes they can fall into sheep think.

The point i am making is that when we drafted Maynard, Cripps had played three career games.

It’s not my account, it’s a chronological fact. So to say we drafted Maynard because of Cripps breakout second season couldn’t possibly have happened unless time travel was involved.

Of course it can, they didnt take him thinking his tank wont get there.
Within the time it took to go from his draft to Maynards he already built up enough to play AFL games and impress.

Not hard to think it possibly made the recruiters think twice about letting him go through.

No time travel needed. Simple really.

Draft range - 21-40

Can we please stop the paranoia around early bids based on him running a 20m sprint 0.1 seconds faster than some other guys?

and People posting Crap as well saying how bad he is

Probably keep in mind that junior talent ID has come a fair way along since 2005. Richmonds recruiters were using top 10 picks based on YouTube highlights clips back then....

I'd be interested in any research about whether they have gotten more accurate with their drafting?

Literally nobody has said he is bad.
Dave means the silly posts I’ve been putting out saying he’s a rookie chance at best. It’s not Dave’s cup of tea.

He's really only a late draft prospect Dave. Like a late 40's / early 50's pick at the earliest. Need that word to get around to other clubs now more than ever.

Don't get angry over it mate, it just is what it is when you come in at the back of the pack in the 2km time trial. He was virtually hurled down the track by a mini tornado for the record, so that 20m sprint time doesn't count.

Two and a quarter games.

He's your classic pick 65 type of player.

It's a nice pick up to have noticed Timmy. I do suspect Rendell is legit in terms of Cripps making them change the criteria, but it seems like he may have been stretching to find a supporting example of the impact of the changed criteria.
