Did you post in the wrong thread?
No, I read your post about JDG going in the middle and thought I would add my thoughts.

Does anyone really care about off topic threads any more? Mods can move or delete my post, doesn’t bother me.

He's certainly a top three KPD. I'm happy for him to go forward as long as it doesn't weaken our defence.

Does it matter if we drop from best defense to say 5th but at the same time dramatically improve our offensive ranking? That’s the risk/ benefit we need to assess.

You need to get out of this rut jmac, you barrack for collingwood, not treloar or stepho or any other player. decisions were made in order for the club to move forward, otherwise our once great club would be down the bottom for a decade or more.

Haven't looked much at him until now, looks the type to project much higher than his output unfortunately - has some serious style about him.

We could be #1 defensively but if we can't improve our attacking game then we'll not only struggle to win games from week to week, we'll also eventually tire out that strong defensive unit and it will start to crack, as we've seen in the past couple of years.

Just quietly, if we can to about 7/8 there's every chance we could get Denver Grainger-Barras...

Much higher chance that someone like Will Phillips will be available around that pick.

Seems to be a very KPP heavy draft at the top end, as well as as mid/forwards that are more damaging, albeit less productive, causing them to be of higher priority than Phillips.

At this stage, i think the following is likely:

Pick 1- Ugle-Hagan (WBD)
Pick 2 - Thilthorpe (Adelaide)
Pick 3 - Mcdonald (Norf)
Pick 4 - DGB/Holands (Sydney)
Pick 5 - DGB/Holands (Hawks)

That'd be a good get, assuming we're not getting screwed to climb to that pick.

Surely Essendon don’t let him get past 6...

Won't be, Sydney are zeroing in on Phillips, and if not him Bruhn.

Basically it comes down to Adelaide who are deciding between McDonald or Thilthorpe.

Adelaide: McDonald / Thilthorpe
Bulldogs: JUH / JUH (likely to be bid on here)
North: Hollands / McDonald (but could be Ess pick)
Sydney: Philips / Hollands
Hawthorn: (hate this club never quite get the info keep it close to their chest) but could be the main danger for DGB, but also Thilthorpe
Gold Coast: Bruhn / Phillips
IF WE COME IN HERE, DGB would be there depending on Hawthorn.

It's a TBC on their pick, but they have been more linked to the athletic talls. I think Hawthorn loom as the biggest risk. Literally barely hear anything about them every year and it's so frustrating.

As in Cox and Reid? That’s what I figured they’d do, which is why I’m keen to trade up ahead of them. I don’t think any of the first round genuine talls will be left by our picks at this point.

Yeah exactly. If we can trade with them, and then do the old don't pick DGB if we do for one of their later picks, then it's possible. They are also dealing with North to try and get Pick 2 because they want McDonald. Issue is, Adelaide has not set itself on Thilthorpe as of yet, and could go McDonald. I think with all the possible trading it is hard to gauge what the end result will be.

If you'd asked me a week ago that we'd have a shot with DGB at Pick 7/8 I would have laughed my arse off. But hearing the various tidbits, it's now a very real possibility if we could get up into that range. I think there's probably four of those top six clubs who won't pick him, so it comes down to Hawks or Essendon, but I'm confident Bombers don't as they have favoured more athletic defenders anyway in recent times.

Once I know where we stand it will be easier to work out what we can get.

Keeping threads on topic is the only thing that separates us from animals Jmac.

Where did you hear that Sydney is super keen on Phillips?

Even then, apart from Hawks, isn't GC trying to trade up to grab a top end KPD which they clearly lack?

It just seems highly unlikely that DGB would be the one that slides. Apart from the 3 KPFs, I'd say most clubs have DGB as 4th.

I don't Lukosius makes it look like they clearly lack a young top end KPD.

Think you might be missing a few words here.

But yeah, don't think they'd need another KPF. ATM they have King at FF and a R/F at CHF. Eventual plan would probably be to move Lukosius up forward once he is developed. While down back they are much thinner

Word butchery on my behalf. With Lukosius, I think he'll be a career defender and a very good one. I just don't think his style is aggressive enough for KPF; doesnt hit aerial contests hard enough or show an inclination to.
