That’s my favourite too.

Then you’ve got the likes of Jamie Oliver calling his kids “Petal Blossom Rainbow”, “Daisy Boo” and “Buddy Bear Maurice”. FFS.

Bob Geldoff and Paula Yates called their daughter “Heavenly Hiraani Tigerlilly” or some such sh*t.

Some parents are just arseholes though; like Robbie McEwen calling his son “Ewen”. Ewen McEwen...
My sister called her daughter Wanda . . nice name but she was married to a bloke called Brain.
W T F was she thinking?
Poor kid.

While less than ideal, I'd be prepared to burn either 14 or 16 to match a bid if we're trading our 2021 1st into the 2020 1st round and we end up with 3x top 20-25 players out of this draft. Ideally that would be 3x top picks + Reef, but it's a nice haul just the same.
He has been rated between 8-16 most of the year, so its not like its pick 2 or anything. We would have had to match with one of our first picks one way or another.

Be interesting to see who we ultimately draft but with 3 best 22 senior spots opening up I think competition for those spots will be very hot. Reef might not be ready for the midfield R1 2021 but that doesn't mean he couldn't nab a spot in F50 for example. Ditto any of the other draftees. Stevo debuted R1, Langers as well although he was a mature recruit.

With Howe and Sidebottom to come back, the net result in the off-season is we have one spot open in our best 22.

We're matching a bid for Reef IMO as it's makes little sense not to unless Hine rates the players who will realistically still be available at pick 16 or 17 (which 14 will slide to) as clearly better options.

As it stands now if Adelaide bid at 9 and our pick 14 had already slide to say 16 then our now pick 18 would fall 4 spots to 22 in matching the bid.

Personally I'll be very surprised if we don't turn our future 1st into another 1st round selection on the night and leave with at least 3 promising talents taken within the first 25. If Reef escapes an early bid then it could be 4.

There will be a couple of injuries and hopefully a couple of underperforming role players phased out. Opportunities will be there and necessarily filled.

Donald McDonald, Robbie Robertson, etc, etc.

because he is young. Hasn't played in over 12 months and hasn't had much exposure in the area he will be best at. Unless he gets played as a forward or defender..

Agree and would add, 12 months without Football means a far gentler pre -season for most of this years draft, to avoid injury. Therefore I expect later or abbreviated starts for even the Top “AFL ready” picks.

Not really. Howe will take a spot in the defence, and who knows with Sidey, he could line up anywhere. Add that the 3 departing players all played when both those 2 were in the side when available.

A former bosses name was Richard Wood. I never understood the s******ing but apparently it's amusing for some reason.

I saw a phantom draft that had Reef as high as pick 8. I’m hoping we can at least take one other player before we have to match a bid there.

If we can scrape through Essendon's 3 picks, we should be okay. I dont think crows would pick him.

Hope you’re right! Anyone but Essendon.. or Carlton.. or anyone 😛

There seems to be only the two interest. Essendon and crows. But at that point of the draft, I have hope they'll go for others.

Every year has a different best 22. Stephenson is likely to be the one we miss the most if he can get his attitude right, but the other two had their limitations .

I doubt our best 22 suffers. Howe Sidebottom and Sier into the team along with better output from Cox and Grundy and further development from Daicos and Quaynor should see to that.

It’s our depth that will be the issue.

And on depth.... Shaz broomy Reid Dunn Varcoe Wills and others weren’t really adding any value anyway!

Bring in the kids... last years and this ones... including Reef

I don't think we pick him either, but what if a bid comes in from GWS or North?

Will you guys look to trade bout 14 & 16 out still, or?

Yes it does change constantly but it’s generally players at the fringes moving in or out. Are you saying that if we’d retained all 3 then all of Treloar, Stevo, Phillips, Howe, and Sidey wouldn’t be in most punters best 22 in 2021?

Maybe... and we'd arguably go backwards because of it. On 2020 form neither Phillips or Stevo could have genuine claims at automatic 2021 selection.

Anyway... we digress... off topic. Looking forward to new blood!

I think we'll be having a chat to GWS about a deal. I doubt we'd trade out both of those unless it was for a very good deal.

If a bid comes from GWS or North, I think we'll match. While they may prefer it to come after our picks, I think they would still do it. North's pick 11 would likely be 13-14 at that point

Luckily we havent got too many best 22 players left to "phase out"!!! Thomas, Mayne, Roughead perhaps.....some might put WHE in that category but I dont think so. And nobody really approaching retirement with most of our good older players at least 2 years away. Next generation players will get their chance.
