Geez we traded out A grade talent, our best junior and a solid best 22. That’s not dead wood. Some kids will get a chance now as spots are there but these are not top rated youngsters. Hopefully a few will make it but, excluding Quaynor(maybe Kelly too), I don’t think we have the next Treloar and Stephenson amongst the players you mention. Hopefully 2-3 Phillips amongst them.

I've seen enough of Sier to know he could be if he wants to be, the question is how much does he want it. Q's a star in the making but the rest you're right, are all potentials, how many of those have we seen over the years not make it.

Its just as much about ensuring 3 top 15 type quality picks imo, by getting ahead of a bid, and then exploiting the discount, when the bid comes. Adelaide's 9 & 23 helps us get a top 10/12 & then Reef, but its the 2021 first rounder that helps us get three top kids in, including Reef... whilst a first next year is wasted with Nicky D. Fascinating stuff, but we need to land a Cox type, then a Perkins / Macrae / Cook / Laurie type mid... then Reef... then hopefully a strong forward slider later on

Best case scenario, we trade our 2021 1st for a pick before our current picks and we get 3 picks in before a bid on Reef = 3x top 20 picks + Reef.

Worst case, we trade our 2021 1st into this year and a bid comes causing us to use 1 of those 1st rounders to match = 2x top 20 picks + Reef.

I think we will match a bid from 8 on. If essendon bid at 6 it will be interesting. If we can get past Freo we should look to to do a deal with gws not to bid at 13 and trade in 15. We end up with 14,15,16 plus mcinnes after this.

Because our pick will be 16, not 8. I’m pretty sure that provided he’s in our top 16/18 we will match a bid, and I’d say it’s unlikely he sits beyond that on our board. Either way I don’t think it will be an issue. I’m almost certain we’ll be doing a deal with Essendon or Adelaide to acquire pick 8 or 9 in order to try and get one of those top 10 talls, likely Cox or Reid.

I agree but we need potential A-Graders coming through, we do have Sidey, Pendles and Howe coming to their twilight years, who replaces them. We can't be just a team of role players.

I think we should trade next year's first.

Getting a full year's development into 4 good kids including Reef, or 3 good kids including Reef if an early bid comes for him, then getting a likely generational talent like Daicos next season will be excellent for our long term development.

Prior to a week or two ago... he was projected at 15-25 and not many people talking about him, now we have everyone lol

I'm assuming thats got to do with his speed.

If we rate Reef at 18 then we probably don’t match, but I have a feeling that we don’t rate him that low. You’re not missing anything though, and really that would be a terrible outcome for us.

It doesn’t. At best there might be a couple of clubs who have him a little higher on their draft boards after his combine results, but Hine would have been well aware of exactly what Reef is capable of for a long time. His testing isn’t going to have been some kind of revelation to us...

We definitely have to land Reef after spending the best part of a year talking him up as though single-handedly he will drag our club back to the head of the competition. I can't recall a played being hyped so much for so long - except Nick Daicos for next year.

I know right? Where was Dekka? nowhere in sight? lol Shame on him. Clearly reef needs some lessons at how to fake things.

Prospects do it all the time to stop clubs from being interested. Whether its at the combine or interviews.

He met with the crows and essendon on the weekend. Hopefully he put them off.
