Weren’t both in the “pushing for selection” cohort at stages in 2020? Bianco got a game in the preseason matches. Rantall has had an interrupted preseason if I recall correctly. Not sure we can be making too many assumptions at this stage. Early VFL matches will be very interesting.

I am only speculating. I have never seen Rantall play and seen only snatches of Bianco, who strikes me as a lightweight addition to a midfield that could benefit from strength and size. But I am not making a judgement or even assumptions without seeing these guys actually play senior football.

well they havent been at the club long enough to come up to the standards set by ben reid, for example. But I'm confident that in years to come, and after further training, they will reach that standard. We need to be patient with them.

Just on Reef, it will be interesting to see how he develops over the next month. He seems to be taking his time to find his feet at VFL level, which is fine by me as you have to factor in his finger injury, back stress fractures and the fact he did not play any footy in 2020.

I thought his game on Saturday was a huge step up from the previous week. Some of his clearance work was 1st rate. Haven't yet seen that real burst of speed but he's only 2 competitive games into it so hopefully it'll come with greater match fitness.
