I have no idea what his tank is currently like. I can only assume he’s still behind the other boys in his draft class given his injuries last year, but I’m not going to make statements about whether or not he is or isn’t ready with such little information.

I don’t either, but what I would say is any concerns over it are premature. Using Sier as the benchmark we have a guy that couldn’t run out of sight on a foggy day yet still managed to show plenty across a 6 season career. Reef has “it” to at least the level of Sier, IMO, so if he brings the right attitude I’m confident he can grow beyond the levels Sier achieved aerobically.

For me the question right now is durability because I think guys that miss big chunks of footy from 18-21 struggle to be above average at the top level. It happens of course, but it makes it harder and he’s already had two of those years effectively wiped out due to injury not Covid. A good pre-season and injury free 2022 will effectively put that one to bed.

Yeah a lot of our Victorian kids will struggle to establish themselves - not just at our club.

Covid has a lot to answer for.

I would of head Nick Daicos ahead of Reed but you think with a Strong Pre-Season that Reef could play RD 1
The article doesn't include players that were drafted in 2021, because they haven't had the opportunity to debut yet.

I don’t think it’s a factor except for kids drafted in 18-19. The Victorian kids drafted between 20-21 will receive the extra grace period usually afforded to a FS or perpetually injured kid. Unfortunately the kids drafted in 18-19 have had the same core of their early development years lost, but because they got a full junior career they aren’t seen in the same light. If anything it’s probably been harder on them in hub life than most of the 20-21 draftees had it living at home.

Not saying they won't make it but they have missed a year in development which certainly puts them behind their interstate peers.

Unfortunate all round.

Reef seems to be getting some attention from watchers this preseason for his inside work and explosiveness. I think he’s the player I’m looking forward to following the most this year. Just feels like there’s so much potential there.

yeah agree looks the goods and at 193 (I think I read that somewhere) seems to have the tools, just hope its not another T Brown hype situation, need one or two of these kids to start ripping it up this year.

Coward! BF is full of definite opinions based on bugger all information. Surely you can write him off as not going to make it by now.

Sounds bit Simmlar to a Young Judd as he was know for his explosiveness from Contests

Calm down Dave. Judd comparisons are way OTT at this point. He hasn’t even played a game yet.

A lot of my hope comes from us aching for a player like that (big frame, inside worker, explosive) for a long time. I'm a fan.

If his fitness is up to par I'd like to see him get an early season debut.

I am not saying he be good as Judd but that Trait sounds Simmlar to what was Judd's big wepon before Injures

Apex is on the money, but there is a kid on our list that has the potential to be as good as Judd! McInnes’ aggression/ assertiveness has really stood out in the vids I’ve seen.

How many players have exploded away from a packs before. Mentioning Judd just opens you up for criticism

Yes. Attributes are one thing, but Judd was elite in terms of game sense as well. He won his second Brownlow after OP had brought him back to the pack physically.

He won his first partly due to his team mates physically forming lanes for him to run through - I watched it dozens of times.

Don't get me wrong a great player - perhaps on the edge of one of 'the greats'.

But the godlike references are wide of the mark.

I tend to agree that he is on the edge of one 'the greats' without being fully there - a great of his time but not quite of all time. He was well and truly heading there until OP slowed him down a bit and seemed to diminish his kicking.

Was forced to carry the scum on his shoulders for far too long - it just wore him down a little more each year.
