He can’t kick for goal, unless it’s around the corner from the boundary, and he can’t stick a mark unless it’s uncontested on the lead.

We keep being told he’s going to be an inside midfielder, time to do some of that in the VFL.

Is young. Just needs to go back to the VFL for a while and win his way back into the seniors.
I agree, but do we persist with the forward role? If we try move him into the midfield he gets stuck further down the queue behind Fin then doesn't he?

It's a tricky one, as he has shown glimpses but looks a way off from the standard required for the elite level

Has the concerning habit of getting a chance at AFL level then playing an absolute howler...

Not Robinson Caruso.

Cox, WHE, Ash Johnson all go to water vs quality and physical teams.

Reef at least hits the contest hard and makes them earn it, the missed kick was a howler but our mids got dominated. Our defenders didn't link run and bombed long to Cox outnumber like he's Carey to no avail.

and does not have the Stamina to play Midfield and Probably never will

It's time to move him to the wing for the second half of the year in the VFL. Both he and Mcrae were great midfielders in the under 18's and his size and marking would be a good starting point
Not wing on ball. Let him learn to use his size and speed as an inside outside mid.

A lot of fuss over a player who’s played 11 games and is well out of the best 22 most weeks.

Lost me. Pretty sure Mason has performed in big games.

Argh, it's a shame that he didn't make his mark on this - game. There were 3 good chances that i recall - the lead and mark on the inside-50 from Cox (missed the lot with the shot); the attempted left-foot snap from the top of the goal square (that just dribbled away); and the marking chance in the last qtr when he had pushed his opponent away (but the ball fell right through his arms).
For me, while clearly it's disappointing he messed them up, these moments show that he is getting some looks at it and getting to good spots. Can he keep growing in confidence until he nails those moments? Hope so - time will tell.

I think Reef is a confidence player. He needs to play a midfield role so he can get his hands on the ball early and be involved in the game.

To be given that a opportunity though, he needs to go away in the off-season and put more size on and build his tank.

He also needs to go back to fundamentals like working on his skills and improve his marking.

When allowed a clean run at the footy Mason has, when teams put work physically into him he struggles.

Richmond final game that everyone loves to mention he was allowed to hit up at the footy.
Same in most his good games it's when he is allowed a run and jump at it.

Teams who put in the body work on him early and have him sit under the ball shut him down.
I thought he should of been used more in the ruck, the amount of scoring opportunities lost due to our HBF and Mids kicking long inside 50 to him in an outnumber was unbelievable.

My understanding is that they were expected to be great mids in the under 18s, but didn't actually play there because covid hit in their final year of u18s. The previous year played flanks.

Who pigeon holed him as a forward? When he was drafted wasn't he a half back that was going to become an inside mid?

He's not going to be a forward at AFL so time to play him somewhere else

I’m not seeing it with this guy
I do "see it" but I am still waiting for him to show it a little more at senior level. He is playing in a very tough position to gain multiple possessions and stand out. But he has to do more.
