Last week's clash between Bulldogs and Roos where we all saw someone's knee bend sideways unnaturally and then be announced as just a sore knee was a relief... very surprising it wasn't an ACL.

Last night Reef's right knee twisting ever slightly but landing awkwardly.... looked bad and as feared... ACL..

Knees aren't simply meant to rotate anymore than a few millimetres and certainly not meant to be pulled or compressed at a rotated position...

Whomever invents an accessory for athletes that prevent knee rotations or sideways bends but allow enough movement will make a killing money wise. If I was a physio I would be on this venture.

That accessory .... that's tape.

You never want cartilage damage imo. I did 2 knees and the cartilage damage let arthritis in and led to a replacement.
Medical procedures have advanced somewhat since your day. He’ll be fine.

Horrible result for him.
Is he looking at even missing pre season now?
I wonder how the club will handle this given he’ll be out of contract too.

He'll get an extension. ACLs aren't viewed as direly as they used to be - players come back well from them these days.

The bigger issue for him is that this year was his best chance. We'll probably add a KPD and I think Howe will go around again unless something bad happens to him too.

Does this mean Charlie Dean or Frampton take that role now?
Or...Wasn't Miochek recruited when he was playing back?

I doubt that is set in stone.

As much as it sucks for him, like Mcstay, he can become a stronger, fitter and better player next year.
I've been told he was gonna get an extension anyway, but will get one nonetheless.

Feel so bad for him. It looked as though the club was prepared to back him in this season, and I think he would have naturally improved with his confidence building.

Ironically, getting injured might actually increase Reef’s chance of being on the list next year.

I was told he was gonna get a contract either way. They have been that impressed by him since pre-season and the first few games.

Told by who?
Just someone involved in the club. i can't really say too much more
But should come as no surprise given they saw him as part of the permanent backline, so they werent gonna discard him now.

I can't see us getting rid of a 22yo who is showing he's AFL ready
I think they saw enough the last 3-4 months.

Hopefully they give him the extension soon so he can just focus on his recovery and not have to worry about that. Like they did with Harrison.
