It's a nightmare for the PL to deal with this as once the goal is ruled onside by VAR there is no capacity in the LOTG for it to then not be registered on the scoresheet. At that point a goal is absolute. England knew it was a goal, did nothing while the game was being restarted and was told by the replay operator (who isn't a referee) to stop the game. He is also required to report serious missed errors under VAR protocol, immediately to the referee. If he did this and Hooper then made a decision on how to proceed with the goal the integrity of the game wouldn't have been compromised as there would have been ruling on the goal ingame.

He stuffed up, and tried to cover it up. The positive is no other side will probably ever experience this.

No complaints from me, please keep posting.

I've not laughed as hard in ages.

Was it as funny as Man City fans wanting Fabinhos goal incorrectly disallowed for a possible TAA handball at Anfield?

That's an all time classic from yourself that nobody will top.

I'm sure you gave a good explanation at the time why a decision that went Liverpools way was a perfectly good decision.

Can't remember the incident to be honest. What year are we talking?

Hahahaha. You had a nice little meltdown in the Liverpool thread over it. You know exactly which incident.

Was an absolute pisser still delivering 4 years later. Great value you are.

Sounds like fun.

Zizou has had a word to Klopp.

It's a weird thing, the integrity of the game has been called into question and the right thing to do would be to replay the game but then for whatever the reason they will absolutely not do the right thing as a replay is never gonna happen.

It's been such a strange event. We just have to move on and get on with it.

Integrity of the game has been called into question by Liverpool and its fans who believe it is a conspiracy against them. There is no issue because it was a clear **** up. But **** ups happen, no need to replay for a **** up.

Good to have this level of transparency, and to have a commitment to actually change protocols and systems rather than just another apology, “human error”, and sweeping the issue under the rug.

Hopefully the use of VAR improves as a result of Liverpool forcing the issue with this complaint. Tribalism aside I don’t think anyone would disagree this was needed.

As a fan, it would also be great if this type of audio were routine going forward and we could hear the referees working through decisions live.

The season would never finish if there was a replay every time

Nope. You again make it about the team that was involved. The same result would be if this was Crystal Palace v Wolves. The integrity of the game is still in question and should be resolved but it wont be and we all know that so we just have to cop it on the chin.

Kind of agree, kind of disagree.

I think clubs should have access to the audio, at all times on request.

Not sure it should be made publicly available though. England has been hung out to dry here, and I'm not sure the public humiliation is going to make things easier for him or other refs going forward. An acknowledgement and explanation of the error, and the clubs having access to the tapes should be sufficient I think.

Fulham have copped some bad ones this season, don't see them asking for a replay.
