Did I read somewhere, sides playing in regional Challenge matches don't have the interchange restrictions that the NAB cup matches do?

If so, is this a bonus in coaches being able to rotate players freely to give the required game time??

Once you get knocked out of the NAB Cup you revert to regular season rules - I would assume this includes interchanges as well. A loss to Adelaide would certainly not be a bad thing...

Exactly IP. The 8 sides who are out of NAB cup are "winners" not restricted to 16 rotations per quarter. Gives the coaches flexibility in how much game time they want to give players who are underdone, younger players, rookies etc.

its a toss up whether you want to win the nab cup and 300,000 odd or lose and be able to rotate your players and have a better run going into the home and away season.

i wonder if freo lost this upcoming game, which of eagles or dockers would be sent to alice springs?

It would probably be your lot anti. I am sure the AFL in its infinite wisdom will view the game in Albany as a home game for your blokes, as it is WA... never mind they'll have to get on a plane to get there.

So we have both had a home game, then we're away, so our next game after that should be a "home" game; a NAB Cup fixture if we're still in it will be at Subi, but a "regional challenge" one could be a home game in Karratha perhaps?? ;)

Your lot have their next game as a "home" game, so get to go away the week after.

Aren't you lucky?? :)

And that's the benefit of staying in it. I think the club's attitude to these games is fine. If they are in a position to win, then they can go for it. If they struggle against the crows, who cares. If we can avoid a trip to Alice Springs then that's a positive, especially given the majority of the squad have just come back from South Africa. If we do lose, you would have to hope for a game at Subi (doesn't it take a while to organise a regional game??) and then maybe a trip to Melbourne.

Your right on money Chook. in 2007 we won NAB derby lost to Kangas in melb in week two and back here for a regional at subi and then off to AAMI for a regional V crows in week 4. we avoided "regional centres"

I think the Slime are off to ASprings in week 3. they have played twice in WA.

But still an extended bench? If not, you're better off staying in the comp aren't you?

Another advantage of not playing in the regional challenge - no ridiculously priced scratch matches that really do mean nothing. (Yes, members get in free, but how many members would there be in Albany??)

And dbt thought prices for the NAB Cup were pricy

Wow that is just typical of the AFL, they know that people in Albany will be craving some live AFL so they charge them through the nose...
