No they don't. They will take on any persons Australia wide with a locamotive ticket to Victorian standards.

Other than the mentioned right of returns no they wont.
Point me to advertising saying we will.
In the future? Sure but not yet.

No you're wrong again on another subject; V-Line does not limit their recruiting of drivers to only internal recruitment as you have stated. The only requirement is that they have a Victorian Locomotive Qualification, which can also be achieved through RPL by current non-Internal V-Line persons.

Who can apply? At this current time, V/Line only considers applications for a Train Driver role from those who currently hold a Victorian Locomotive Qualification.
Should this change in future, all Driver opportunities will be listed on the V/Line website under the careers page - vacancies

How do I become a Victorian Qualified Locomotive driver?
To obtain a Victorian Locomotive Qualification, you will need to look at opportunities with other rail operators in Victoria, Australia.

Can I start somewhere else at V/Line and work my way up?
Certainly. You may apply to join V/Line in another capacity suitable to your skills and experience, where you are then able to apply for an internal Trainee Driver position, if and when they arise.
I guess this along with your statements about believing RRL sharing with metro trains on the same line, same platform, metro going to Melton, etc say's alot

I dont care what a website says from a few years ago WE HAVE NOT HIRED EXTERNALLY OTHER THAN RIGHT OF RETURN for a long time and WONT in the foreseeable future.
An FAQ can say whatever it likes, fact is you wont see a drivers job come up on that vacancies page for many years yet (unless you have access to the internal intranet).

And the Rail Union thinks you're wrong on another subject as well!! :p

Employment Opportunities

Advertisements for Locomotive Drivers in this State have never been higher at this time of writing. Queensland Rail, Pacific National R&B and V/Line are all advertising positions in Melbourne and some country locations. Pacific National R & B have 8 positions available in Melbourne and have been inundated with applications, 94 from Metro drivers alone!

The high mobility of Locomotive Drivers is unprecedented. Gone are the days when an individual started as a trainee and retired with the same organization. Our members are taking locomotive driver positions in Tasmania, Queensland and Western Australia. I am aware of members also taking positions internationally in mining operations in Africa. The latest trend is that we are starting to see a trickle of members back to Victoria from Western Australia Rio Tinto , BHP and QR. Reasons vary, some are cashed up and want to return to their home state, some are dissatisfied and wish to return but all that have returned have been readily employed. It is a sign of the times. If you are not happy you have employment options.

The new Wyndham vale station (the building itself) looks nearly complete. They still have to build the platforms and fit the station out, but from the outside, it looks good. A footbridge has been put up, to go across the deep cutting you see below. the cutting goes for about two kilometres.

Amazed at how quickly this is all going up.
