Hey there.ferball please report in when able
I think you mean 2009 in Melbourne?Hey there.
Its all good here. I posted some stuff in the random thread. I'm near the top of the catchment and it hasn't rained for a couple of hours.
That saying - "The silence is deafening" - really rings true right now. Its been pissing down for days. Non stop hammering into the tin roof. The gutters had not stopped overflowing for days, the water tank just stopped the overflow in the last half hour.
The lack of water noise is doing my head in. LOL.
We have no phone signal. This is satellite internet, but I haven't got much data left. I can hear a chopper right now. Its just flying around. A few of them flew over earlier toward Lismore. Canungra is NE of here and Amberly is NW so probably from one of them. It was hard to tell where they were or where they were coming from with the rain.
I've been thru three once in 1000 year rain events now, since 2011 started. We were in Melbourne for the 2008 one. They don't call them that any more. This was probably the most intense, especially the last 24 hours. There was so much water on the roof it was forcing its way between the corrugated iron. I dunno how bad it is yet but its probably okay. Touch wood.
The rain was so heavy there was no comms all day. From about midday. Every now and then the satellite would come one for about 10 minutes.
We lost the tv signal for a few hours too. At that point Lismore was getting smashed and there was footage of it under water.
My Brother In Law's place is under water. They're okay but they've lost all their stuff.

If you need a rescue to launch, pm me.

In 2008 up here there was a similar flood event but on a smaller scale. There was about 600mm of rain fell between Kyogle and the border in three hours one morning.I think you mean 2009 in Melbourne?

That looks big Koshari . I only have a small dam but there is part that is empty and only fills a little. Hoping to work out how i can catch more water so I can stock it with fish. Are you stocking this dam with any fish ?
Not initially, might look into it down the track, its essentually for stock water. That looks big Koshari . I only have a small dam but there is part that is empty and only fills a little. Are you going to line it (to stop leaks)?
Yabbies. You must have yabbies. Plant something in it now to give them some initial feed. Not initially, might look into it down the track, its essentually for stock water.
It is lined with over a Meter of clay not including the keying/core, the top soils over the lining to grow vegatation to limit erosion. Are you going to line it (to stop leaks)?
Will be a while, just sewn grass seed and will be establishing rushes to slow the inflow.Yabbies. You must have yabbies. Plant something in it now to give them some initial feed.
Yeah was going to ask if clay or wtf. Mate of mine lives in your region, property faces a different direction, lovely undulating hills. It is lined with over a Meter of clay not including the keying/core, the top soils over the lining to grow vegatation to limit erosion.
I have a couple of family property damns full of yabbies across your way. Give me a shout when you are ready to stock and I'll drop them off. Will be a while, just sewn grass seed and will be establishing rushes to slow the inflow.
One half of the gully was very sandy. The operator had to push, mix, replace heaps of material on that side, especially where it was keyed into the hill. The last property was virtually all clay with a little seam of Mud rock running through the property.Yeah was going to ask if clay or wtf. we have 5 dams on the property and none appear to have yabbies, this one that has been rebuilt will now be the biggest, the others except for the one in the horse paddock all have lots of sediment in them ( as did this one before addressing it) . 2 of the other dams are excavated tanks and 2 are small gully dams. prolly the other excavated tank dam would be more suitagle for yabbies with no walls to damage.I have a couple of family property damns full of yabbies across your way. We've got about 100 baby yabbies in a tank in the loungeroom if you need some Kosh.Yabbies. You must have yabbies. Plant something in it now to give them some initial feed.
Take it to Sydney to fill it up
We had about 50mm yesterday.Take it to Sydney to fill it up![]()
