I dont see how Neale will go back to Freo. They would be hesitant to pay 1 first round pick let alone 2. It makes their midfield old again when they were looking to rejuvenate.

The only, ONLY silver lining I can find about a Melbourne premiership is it moves freo one rung higher on the drought ladder. Nevermind they are only 20 odd years old. Love it.

Lions could come out of this well if they get some first rounders for him. IF they then take Luke parker as a free agent they can still have some decent first rounders to draft young mids to replace Zorko.

So Neale is going to be the big talk of this year's trade period obviously - so we'll have to wait for the second last day for his deal to go through before any other deal can. They should just make the trade period 2 hours in a big room and list managers can yell at each other like a 80s movie Wall St scene just so things will actually get done.

That would really hamper any income from the likes of Trade Radio, brought to you by Sportsbet.

"Neale paying $2.15 to get back to Freo, that's easy money as far as I'm concerned - chuck your house on it!

gamble responsibly"

Odd. State government and police have no concerns, yet the AFL go down this route anyway.

Sounds more like the AFL is terrorised by the realisation that "tradition" can exist outside of Victoria, meaning the arguments used for sticking with Melbourne alone in future are becoming increasingly hollow - easier to just not host things than invite uncomfortable questions I guess.
I think they've realised just how successful a GF at a large non-Victorian venue can be (eg Adelaide Oval, Optus, SCG etc). The prelim sold out in 8 hours and the GF will be sold out in minutes (if they even have a public reserve). Imagine 50 thousand turning up for a GF parade? It would just drive home how ridiculous it is that the game is always held at a stuffy MCG where the MCC and AFL reserve mean that 1/3-half the ground is packed with neutrals who couldn't care less.

Nah best thing about a Melbourne flag is that their fans have 0% chance of getting in to see it. Hopefully next year they can go back to the bottom of the ladder where they belong for the next 50 years, so their only flag in a centurary won't even be played and won in front of anyone stupid enough to support such as waste of time as the Melbourne football club.

Downside of a melbourne flag is they seriously give me Geelong '07 vibes and I reckon they could be playing deep into finals for years to come :'(

I'd rather chew broken glass than watch Clayton's Fallover wear a premiership medal.
Geelong not much known for staying upright in a tackle while the Bulldogs are showing that invertebrates can play football too.

Pressure from football family to support Melbourne given our West Perth ties (red & blue, same song, used our ground recently)

I responded with a

Short of Optus Stadium sinking at an alarming rate during the GF, there are no winners this year.

Perennial losers? The Demons? The chance to piss off most of the board?

GO MELBOURNE

Clayton Oliver aside, I'm fine with a Melbourne flag. It's been a six decade wait for the poor bastards, and they've never really inconvenienced the Eagles enough to annoy me.

In the early days the way some of their players racially vilified Chris Lewis , is a shit stain on their Club that I cant ever forget or forgive ........ so heck em I don't want to see them raise the Cup.

Makes it hard as neither do I want the chuckers to win it either.... don't like the dick eaters so by a process of elimination I would rather Port win it.

Port for me.

Boak and Grey deserve it, gutsy stars totally under-rated by VFL media and joyous, drinking Slyce is always good.

My preference is everyone gets disqualified except for Scott Lycett and he receives the only premiership medal of 2021
