It's an odd situation for mine. I hate to sound old but trash talking has just never fazed me, and I've always been of the opinion if someone trash talks you so bad then snot them. Acting like cave men is obviously stupid and violence is never the answer and we've moved on from that.

I dunno, you can't hit someone and it's obviously rattled you so much then what're you supposed to do other than complain to the officiators. I think it's just weird to be sanctioned for trash talking if it's not racist/homophobic/sexist.

Thanks to everyone that's gonna come at me with "how would you feel if it was done to you", but sorry I just don't react that way to words.

It's not that hard to keep family out of it though, is it?

No of course not, and don't take my post as endorsing Zorko's behaviour either. I'm more speaking from the stance of the person on the receiving end. Choices are hit them, keep quiet and let your game do the talking or complain to the officiators - I go for the middle option personally.

If his mum's actually sick or dead then it's another matter but otherwise you just take it as an invitation to tackle them harder

I think someone mentioned his mum is sick which really doesn't help the situation.

Look it's just my opinion, people react in different ways.

You can't really say that someone without expecting a punch. And in the AFL, you can't do it. Those words wouldn't upset me, but if someone thought they could say that to me they'd get a clip.

I’m sure Petty wasn’t deliberately crying in order to complain. Probably involuntary and then the coaches came up to check on him.

I really think it comes down to whether Zorko knew his mum was sick or not. Again I may be old school but words are just words to me, I would use it on the field, get around my team, let them know what was said and make sure he ****ing hurts for it.

Looking at how Essendon is melting down gives me a deeper appreciation for our club. We just had our worst season ever and only won two games but we're chugging along as if we made the 8, probably have another big revenue making year and just move on to next year. Essendon won five more games than us and that place looks like it's about to collapse up its own ass. It's all about having the right people in the right places at the top.

One thing you can't knock Nisbett for is stability. I just think there needs to be new ideas on the board and for his position. He seems to try his WA dominance with the AFL (almost every year) and it just doesn't correspond.

Vozzo has been groomed for the role for years. Is he ready, or ready for a board spot from a footballing perspective whilst we give someone else a shot for a couple of years without Nisbett holding all the strings. If someone else replaces Nisbett and doesn't look up to it, it's Vozzo's position in a couple of years anyway.

The one thing you can say about our board and whilst Nisbett has too much pull is that in comparison to teams like Essendon as a club there is a lot more stability there.

Freo get their 3rd Rising Star nomination for the year (O’Driscoll) and their 6th in the last 3 seasons.

In that time, we have had 0.

I fully expect Bazzo, Chesser, Culley and potentially our first pick to all pick one up next year. Now if we can pull 6-8 rising star nominations over the next 3 years we know our rebuild is a success.

I will say however from a list perspective I think this is the clubs lowest ebb and it's why we have to keep some of the senior players even with diminishing outputs because the next age brackets just don't have what it takes.

So what. Literally, so what

It’s a reflection of what picks the respective clubs have used at the draft over the last few years

Chapman (14), O’Driscoll (27) and Walker (49) were all taken in the 2020 draft before we had taken a single selection - Luke Edwards at 52 was our first

The year before that Jamieson at 49 was our first pick

It’s not really that surprising we haven’t had any and Hough was unlucky not to get one but he was consistent week to week without having a standout game to get a nomination

Ease up Nissy.

I expect we’ll have a couple next year in Culley, Chesser and Bazzo as a starting point. Just stating the facts.

I also hope the club allows the younger players to take more responsibility on field moving forward.
