Emerging Carlton midfielder Adam Bentick concedes there will be greater expectations placed on him this year as he attempts to cement a position in the Blues' best 22.

Bentick shone towards the end of the 2005 season in an otherwise gloomy year for the club and he knows he will be further scrutinised in 2006.

"It is a little bit of a different attitude I'll take into this year. I probably will put that bit more pressure on myself again, knowing that I was of value to the team and hopefully I can continue to be a part of the senior team and really make inroads to cementing a spot in the team," Bentick told afl.com.au.

What i like about Bentick is the pressure he puts on opposition midfielders at stoppages. He tackles, bumps, shephards etc.
i know our defence aint the best but when you see opposition onballers clear the stoppages (that word again) so easily it opens up the oppostion forward line making it easier for their forwards to lead and mark. Pressure on those ball carriers forces errors turnovers and hopefully Carlton goals. Bentick is one of the players on the ball who provides this pressure well.
I would like to see Waitey spend a bit of time on the ball this year for that reason, he is a big body who can tackle and put the much needed pressure on oppostion players to prevent them winning the ball so dam easy as was the case for most of last season.

P1ssweak attitude if you ask me. What's all this crap about trying to cement a senior position.... as far as I'm concerned he's already done that. He should be looking to become one of the Blues prime movers, not some blow-in fringe player who hangs on to his spot by the skin of his teeth each week.

Time for a few of these kids to grow up and become men.

Having a 20 year old who's only just begun his second year on the main list bragging that he's aiming to be one of the elite would probably be seen as a touch arrogant wouldn't you say?
