Reid injured, again!

We have way to many players on our list that are continually injured. Reid, Wells, Elliot, Moore, Broomhead, Sharenberg etc etc. Been this same group for years. While its great the club stands by there players and its unfortunate for them but a club can only carry so many. Can add Beams to this list also. Why you would want to recruit players in there twilight years for big coin just blows me away.

Agree Jmac. I reckon Reid is a champion guy and a Collingwood premiership player.

But it does look bad for him. I though he was about to win himself another year with his form these last months. I’m afraid it’s over now.
It might well be. I expect to see him play again though, either at VFL or AFL level.

Daics deserves another game but stats are very deceiving. Daics lacks pace and physical presence-something we were in desperate need of last night.
I thought his inside work was quite good but he does lack size and pace, as for physical presence i think all our midfielders lack physical presence thats why for the last 6 weeks teams have been sitting their players about a metre or so away from our mids at stoppages and then pressuring them when they get the ball and cause turnovers

It’s the physical presence bit that worries me. I didn’t watch the game but I’ll be surprised if he could stick a tackle on someone like ziebel.
His tackling is better than others in the side...Phillips, WHE. Let’s give him some time to develop before we right him off.

Reid should retire but wont until we get rid of him. Why would he? Getting paid decent coin to play 4-5 games a year, I would want in on that gravy train too.

Given his history and how long it will take him to recover from this injury and find match fitness. It would be high folly to offer Reid a new contract at year's end.

But we need to move on a few each year to open up the list spots. Wells, Goldsack and Reid look like they are at the end. Varcoe and Dunn not far off either. For other reasons Wills, Crocker, Magden and Broomhead all vulnerable too.

On the plus side it does open up some cap space to retain big names coming out of contract and opens up list spots to target some on the outer talent from other clubs that can come in and perform a role.

If only we had a better hand at the 2019 draft table than a late 2nd rd pick.

Cheap comment. It’s a bit more complicated than turning up 4 or 5 times during the year.
