ROB's only problem is he is only 202cm and hasn't got a huge leap on him
Really not tall enough for a ruckman.
I don't think we can question much else because he is always giving 110% out there and actually runs into defense to help out.
It's more a list management issue than a ROB issue.
I'd prefer he played CHB and was 2nd ruck but the list management don't seem to priorities ruckman for some reason

How many premiership medals go to the AA ruckman of that year? Cox maybe. You don't need an elite ruck to be successful.

Ruck does have form of being a position that you want cost effective, not great.

As for ROB, he's a good first ruck and will be for most of the decade. Just is rather unlucky he's working with a sector which has truly fallen apart.

I thought the same but the last few weeks he had actually done a few huge leap in the centre bounce so the ability is there.

This guy is seriously underrated for a ruck who has played so few games.

This guy is a set and forget ruck for the next 3 or 4 years imo. Will never be the best ruckman in the league but who cares.

We obviously need to keep developing other rucks in the meantime and if one ends up better, then great.

Let's focus on getting an actual midfield coach and some elite on ballers.

My only concerns for him now is his longevity. The way he plays his body will be pretty beat up in 5 years. Hopefully Himmelberg or someone else can give him some assistance.

He has only started really playing senior this year turning 25 just last month and importantly already has an elite endurance base which is different to the other big body ruckman so this will be help his longevity but he definitely will need a chop out ruckman for real AFL season, hence talk of drafting Thilthope which will allow Himmelberg to play forward when Tex retire instead of tiring him in 20-30% in the ruck, he has shown he has ability to run and chase to apply pressure in the last few games.

He's 25 already so he'll be 30 in 5 years
Ruckman seem to somehow go for a while. Ruck is one of those crappy list spots where even if you have a good ruck and forward/ruck, you still need to have a decent full time back up sitting there. If all goes well in terms of injury, they don't even play a game.

That being said, Geelong seem to have found a good model.

I think he's improved his tap work enormously over the last year and it was on show against Sauce.

Might be a combination of self improvement, gelling more with the midfield, or getting more familiar with the coaches midfield plan (seems to be some semblence one now). Either way, I'd put him in the top 5 rucks in the Comp (Nait, Gawn, Grundy, Goldstein)

Yep agreed. His ruckwork at the start of the year was dreadful especially in the middle. Now he is getting first use more often than not and really setting us up.
