No, he didn't. He didn't play because he was, in the coaches eyes, the 22nd rated player on the list the previous week (he only got in the side then because Shirley's suspension in the SANFL was upheld) and then for this weekend Bock was straight back into the side and so Reilly was the man to make way.

His game against Carlton was quite good, as the club themselves say, but before that his form had been indifferent.

Just another site. Apparently it was on the radio and I really hope it is not true...

But it sounds like the Crow players were asked to think of 6 players they expect to be delisted at the end of the year, then they had to stand in front of the group and say who their 6 were and why they think they will get delisted. Not a big fan of that idea and I hope it is just a rumour.

Sellar and Kite were among those named which doesn't surprise me, but Reilly's name was also mentioned.

Whilst I dont agree with it and highly doubt it would happen. At least it would make the players who may have been named work harder and try and prove themselves and their worth to the coaches/playing group. Nothing wrong with a rocket up your arse at the half way point of the season.

Craigy was quoted in an article saying that they have had discussions mid season about possible delistings and said that it would be better for the players at risk to know now and do something about it then be told at end of season.

I think he has been played out of position this year which has not helped him. He has been played in defence seemingly with a view to run, carry and distribute of half back...probably in recognition of his kicking skills.

I believe he is a natural contested ball winner, very strong in clearance situations. He has played his best footy for us in and around the midfield and that is where he should be IMO, not getting caught out in one on one arial contests against experienced forwards.

He is an inside mid, pure and simple.

Of course craigy would talk to those players. Maybe the leadership group would have a few words. You wouldn't stand them up in front of the rest of the team and humiliate them.

With the pending retirements of our big 3, you surely wouldn't think Reilly would be in danger of being delisted would you?

Even if he may not be in our best 22 (which is debatable because I personally think he'd be ahead of a couple of others), you would still at the very least need him as a depth player to cover for the inevitable injuries that happen during a season.

Even on form this year, I would be surprised if radar was delisted at the end of the year. Not sure when he is contracted until, anyone know?

If by chance more than 1 of the fab 3 retire, it will be even more unlikely he'll go. I think we need mature bodied experienced players the next couple of years to bridge the gap while our youngens are developing.

Completely agree. The coaches should be speaking to them or at least the leadership lads, to get told by their peers in front of their peers is ordinary which is why I hope it's false but I have a feeling it isn't.

Sorry I think this was mis-understood the way I phrased it..
I knew he was a non-starter for the Crows but why didn't he play SANFL this weekend, he's with Sturt isn't he and they didn't have the bye did they??

What's the likelihood of Reilly being used as trade bait? Would we get anything reasonable for him?

Probably not now. He's really shown what he can do and I'm not sure another side we'll think he solves any of their problems. I guess a side looking for a little bit more experience in their midfield might be curious, but it's hard to imagine that anything more than a second round pick would be on the table, and even that seems pretty optimistic.

Probably a low second rounder or another player in a similar situation... touted to be good but hasn't come on as many had hoped.

I am one of the few that defend Reilly at every opportunity, but sitting at the game on the weekend I honestly didn't see anyone that I'd have replaced him with which is pretty damning really....

Symes is probably the one, but they play different roles and I think there is a spot for the role Symes plays whereas there are a few guys that do what Reilly do, who are younger and at this stage do it more consistently.

What's the go with the Gold Coast - can we trade with them this year?

Richmond? Surely they need someone like Radar?

No. They come into the equation in 2010.

Who knows what plans the new Tigers coach will bring. I doubt they'll be looking for more recycled players though. You'd think they will have learned from all the recycling undertaken during the reign of Wallace, culminating in the drafting of Cousins.

I'm actually a fan for it.

Wouldn't you like to know to your face??

I'd much rather find out in May than in October when everyone all of a sudden turns on you.

It's the nature of the business. If our players aren't mentally tough enough to handle that, then they shouldn't be playing anyway.

Yeah, he was the travelling emergency.

It's almost a pity since you would want him to go back and get some form, but on the other hand he had good form last game he played and you never know when you'll get the reprieve due to an injury or whatever.
Long trip. ;)

I have no problems with the players being told, to their faces, where they sit in relation to list management issues. However, this needs to be done in confidence, by the Football Manager and/or Head Coach. It should not be done in public, nor should it be done by asking the players to judge each other.
