good luck to the cats today on their 4 points.:)

i have been away for 2 months and get back to see the saints manufacture another loss when they should have won. but i couldn't take my eyes off a white haired kid who was leading and marking and wearing the red white and black. the cats bloke with the big hair will be all australian this year, he will also know that the next 10+ years he will get beaten by reiwoldt. reiwoldt ran him around for 3/4's before scarlett's hammy went, i rate scarlett as a tough go forward defender, today he was thrashed by the best young player i have ever seen at our club.

saints people have been battered and ridiculed so much over the last few years that we have to whisper that we think this bloke will be alright. collingwood people rave about fraser and fremantle supporters think they have the best with haselby and pavlich. st kilda supporters don't yell it loudly but we know we have the best young player in this generation. i still can't wait to see kosi and reiwoldt playing at either end of the ground dominating their positions.

reiwoldt played 4 or 5 games last year as a skinny kid, this year after round 19 he is leading the competition for marks. i think tredrea is a fantastic player and a deserved all australian, i think riewoldt will tear this competition a new a-hole. if he is not all australian this year he will be for the next 10 years.

I doubt that there would be more than a dozen players in the AFL that you wouldn't swap for Riewoldt straight up. If he isn't at that level already he will be a superstar in the next couple of years.

Reiwoldt is a champion. I wonder if the Saints would like to swap him for a certain key position player that wants to head east.

Riewoldt is a champ but i still think Judd will give him a good run for his money in the Rising Star award. Judd was absolutely superb today against the Dees, and although we went down is was he who almost single handedly pulled us across the line.

If Riewoldt wants to head west we wouldnt mind Cousins, Kerr and Judd delivering the ball to him for the next 10 years :D

I was very impressed with the Reiwoldt's game yesterday. He is athletic, can take a good mark, presents himself well and has good skills... all the makings of someone who has a great career ahead of him.

Go Cats!!

Saints fans don't need to rave, the rest of the comp are doing it for us.

2 things about Riewoldt, he is taller than listed (@193cm), is much more mobile than Plugger ever was, but is not even in the same league as foot skills go.
Pluggers greatest strength was his kicking, both set shots and left/right snaps over his shoulder, -especially as a youngster - combined with enormous strength and mobility. Riewoldts greatest strengths are pace (for his size) and the way he marks the ball, at the highest possible point out in front, 1 grab.

Don't forget Lockett won a Brownlow at 21.

Having said that if Riewoldt can work on his disposal he will be the best player in the league within 2 years.

Yeah, I've always thought he looked more like 196cm than 193cm.

I was at Sunday's game and was quite impressed with his disposal. Seemed to be able to hit targets over long distances, looks a complete package already.

He's a certainty for the Rising Star this year, so I dunno why some North supporters are getting worked up about weekly nominations cos it won't amount to anything!

At this point in time, I reckon there isn't a player in the competition you wouldn't trade for him except maybe Tredrea and Pavlich. A quality tall is harder to find than a quality midfielder and Tredrea and Pavlich are the only talls who show anywhere near as much ability and still have 10 years left. Maybe throw in Digby Morrell too. :D

It's not like we get a nomination every week, or month, or year :(

Carey wasn't as good at 19 either.

Lance Whitnall is the only current key position player who was as good at that age as Riewoldt is now.

Pavlich, Tredrea and Riewoldt will be streaks ahead of any other key position player in a few years.

Don't discount Lance. If he has an even half decent midfield delivering him the ball, don't discount him.

Chris Grant was a sensation as a teenager, 50+ goals in his first year.

A comparison of Riewoldt and Whitnall at the same age is interesting. Riewoldt would be a couple of inches taller, but 10-15 kilos lighter, quicker and a better overhead mark. Lance would be a better disposer of the ball, better body player and better below his knees.
They're probably the 2 most opposite CHF's in the business, though both are great readers of the play.

One thing Riewoldt would have over Lance would be versatility to play a number of positions, especially as he bulks.
