Ok, lay it out on the table, what do you think is the answer to the following questions:

NBA Champions:
Runners Up:
Finals MVP:
WCF's:
ECF:
MVP:
Defensive Player of the Year:
Most Improved:
Sixth Man:
ROY:

All NBA First Team-

Centre:
Forward:
Forward:
Guard:
Guard:

Which team out of Dallas/Denver/GSW will miss out on playoffs:
Which of the big trades will prove to be the smartest (KG/Allen, Gasol, Shaq, Kidd):

Coach of the Year:
GM of the Year:

Ok, here's my effort:

NBA Champions: Boston Celtics in 7 over...
Runners Up: Phoenix Suns (I just think Shaq gives them versatility, and they're going really well at the right time of year).
Finals MVP: Kevin Garnett
WCF's: Phoenix vs Hornets (will be a 7 game series and one of the most exciting series of all time)
ECF: Boston vs Detroit (will be the opposite of the one above)
MVP:Chris Paul (though media bias will probably see Kobe get it undeservedly)
Defensive Player of the Year: Marcus Camby based on stats, though Artest is still the best actual defender
Most Improved: Can I say Monta Ellis for the second year running? No? Ok, um, Rajon Rondo?
Sixth Man: I shouldn't have even put this in, Manu Ginosebleed has this award wrapped up for the rest of his career
ROY: Horford deserves it, but Durant will get it

All NBA First Team- (Firstly, I'd like to point out this is the EASIEST all nba team to pick in the whole 16 years I've been following the NBA)

Centre: Dwight Howard
Forward: Kevin Garnett
Forward: LeBron James
Guard: Kobe Bryant
Guard: Chris Paul

(also, can anyone remember a season in the past where the top 5 MVP candidates by most peoples thinking, all played different positions and occupied the All NBA first team?)

Which team out of Dallas/Denver/GSW will miss out on playoffs: I'm hoping for Dallas, because they're horrid and will get taken out in four against anyone they play in teh playoffs - at least GSW and Denver there's a chance of a brawl or Iverson/Melo/Davis/Monta going ballistic and scoring 40 - Dallas has nothing)

Which of the big trades will prove to be the smartest (KG/Allen, Gasol, Shaq, Kidd): KG/Allen is the easiest choice, and it's for that reason I think the C's win the title this year. But the Shaq trade is looking smarter by the day - as Amare doesn't get exploited on D as much anymore. Very versatile offense.

Coach of the Year: I'm going with Adelman, to implement a whole new offense and achieve what he did with the cattle he had is a spectacular effort.

GM of the Year: Ainge had this all wrapped up, but how can you let a guy who traded Kwame freakin' Brown and Crittendon for Pau Gasol not win it? Kupchak for me.

Sixth Man: manu (*oh no bu he's started blah blah*)
ROY: See the Durant vs Horford debate

All NBA First Team-

Centre:

Guard: Rondo
Guard: Williams-Paul

Which team out of Dallas/Denver/GSW will miss out on playoffs:
none of them will beat utah anyway

kidd cause they suck without harris

Coach of the Year:
sloan's been robbed for every year so he gets it finally

Ok, lay it out on the table, what do you think is the answer to the following questions:

NBA Champions: Boston Celtics
Runners Up: New Orleans Hornets (Lakers if they finish top 4)
Finals MVP: Paul Pierce
WCF's: Lakers vs. Hornets (replace either with Spurs/Utah if this match-up happens earlier. Replace Hornets with Utah if that match-up happens earlier. Lots of permutations.)
ECF: Celtics vs. Detroit
MVP: Kobe (my pick is Paul)
Defensive Player of the Year: Camby (my pick is Artest)
Most Improved: Hedo Turkoglu (Dunleavy second, Gay third)
Sixth Man: Manu Ginobili
ROY: Kevin Durant

All NBA First Team-

Centre: Duncan
Forward: LBJ
Forward: Garnett
Guard: Bryant
Guard: Paul

Which team out of Dallas/Denver/GSW will miss out on playoffs: Tough to call without seeing the sched. I'm hoping Dallas.

Which of the big trades will prove to be the smartest (KG/Allen, Gasol, Shaq, Kidd): KG trade by a mile.

Coach of the Year: Adelman
GM of the Year: Ainge
Nothing too exciting there...I agree that it's a pretty easy year to pick the various awards. I can't call the playoff results with any confidence without knowing the match-ups.

Kobe to win the Finals MVP despite Boston winning the championship?

when was the last time that happened?
I think Dumars did it for the pistons when they lost.someone can correct me if Im wrong

anyway its just my prediction.he will go off against them but it wont be enough to get them over the line

^^^my Bad Jerry West is the only player to do it in a losing side^^^

I knew someone had jagged it once.I think the Lakers can go all the way to the finals but wont be able to beat Boston. However boston dont have one player who can even try to guard kobe.He will get big numbers

Hopefully im wrong and the Spurs win it though.however the stern will want a Boston -LA matchup

NBA Champions: Boston in 6 - too much talent, heart and desire. Great inside-out offense backed up by near league best defense. If they can all stay healthy, I dont see many stopping them.
Runners Up: Gotta go with the Suns - im really liking how the shaq trade has panned out. STAT has been on fire of late, Shaq has been better than solid and Nash has been, well... Nash. :p Need to get Hill back and healthy though.
Finals MVP: Pierce. Tough to overlook Garnett, but this is still Pierces team, and I expect him to show it.
WCF's: Suns vs Lakers. Suns to win in 7 after Gasol goes down with injury in game 5. This series would be an absolute treat to watch. :thumbsu:
ECF's: Boston vs Detroit. Boston in 5. Im a big fan of Detroit basketball (weird I know) but Boston will just be too good. Chauncey is a worry - as always - but Boston just has too much talent.
MVP: Kobe Bryant. Probably not that deserved (Paul should win), but I think the media will finally give Kobe the trophy he has been robbed off before. Paul has plenty of time to win another.
Defensive Player of the Year: Ron Artest. Camby may have the better stats, but Ron Ron is a much better defender.
Most Improved: Tough pick this one. Going with Rudy Gay, but its tough to overlook Turkoglu,. If Bynum hadnt gone down, he would get a look too.
Sixth Man: Ginobli. Absolute lock for this award.
ROY: Sticking with my pre-season pick: Al Horford. Won the starting C job within his first month, has averaged a near double-double in his first season. Big part of why the Hawks are in the playoffs this year - unlike Durant.

All NBA First Team-

Centre:
Dwight Howard
Forward: Kevin Garnett
Forward: LeBron James
Guard: Kobe Bryant
Guard: Chris Paul
Which team out of Dallas/Denver/GSW will miss out on playoffs: I have no idea on this one. Id prefer to see GSW and Denver make it, but GSW doesnt hold the tie-breaker against either team.
Which of the big trades will prove to be the smartest (KG/Allen, Gasol, Shaq, Kidd): Im ruling the KG/Allen trade out of this one, as it was done pre-season. Of the three big trades, Shaq will prove to be the best trade. Cant believe im saying that too, I thought it was shocking when it happened. He has shored up there inside D, and as a result of taking the big PF/C's, STAT is racking up less fouls. Less fouls means more court-time, and Amare has been on fire of late as a result. I think this all comes down to whether he can stay healthy though. If Shaq had gone down and Gasol was healthy, that would be the better trade...

Coach of the Year:
Byron Scott. Turned a bunch of also-rans into a legitimate title contender. And with no bench too. Adelman a close second.
GM of the Year: Mitch Kupchak. Committed legitimate highway robbery...

Phew. That took a while. Cant wait for the playoffs now, hope the Raps can get past the first round.

I got a few questions for you pete

How can Amare be DPOY when he has very little to nothing D and hes competing with greater defensive players like camby and paul???

And how does rondo get the sg place in the all nba first-team??? hes a point guard btw and did you forget a little known player called Kobe Bryant and is 2nd to Micheal Jordan as the greatest sg of all time.

Finally how can the kidd trade be a successful one when your opinion Dallas suck without harris??

just shows your knowlege of american basketball :)

Coach of the Year: Doc Rivers
Question for you - how on earth can Doc Rivers be CotY? Look at the talent and experience he has on that roster, it pretty much coaches itself. Hell I could coach that team to 40+ wins. All he really has to do is call timeouts and make subs. Slight exaggeration I know, but seriously - Doc Rivers?

What about Adelman? Took a team that lost its number one option (and one of the best big men in the league) to a 22 game winning streak. Sure it was a flukey streak due to catching certain teams at the right time - Hornets without West, Dallas without Dirk, Lakers without Gasol - but he still deserves credit for their current position. Which is 6th by the way, sitting on 49 wins.

And what about Byron Scott? Sure he has a pretty handy starting 5, but that squad has no depth. Bonzi Wells was a smart pick-up, but all season they have been tipped to fall away and yet they are still at the top of the WEST.

Surely that deserves more credit than Doc Rivers and his auto-pilot team?

hoping hodges response answered your question.

id like to think my knowledge of the game is pretty good. only been to 2 nba games admittedly, both at staples center but read up on enough to get me by. not overly interested in stats, dont really care on memorising them.
