A couple of years back, maybe 3 a friend was having a baby and I walked into a sort of 2 dollar store with a furniture bazaar in the second half in Millicent and they were selling “ Gollywogs “, I hadn’t seen one since the 70s.
Obviously I bought it because her baby shower had quite a few Lefty’s who I knew would lose it when they saw it.
Store owner remarked to me that they were hard to get hold off and all I could think was “ I bet, thought they were banned”

Lord Kitchener was a guy in a UK WW1 poster wanting volunteers, from memory it was after WW2 that the name was changed to kitchener. Also St. Kilda jumper was the same colours as the german flag and they changed it due to the was. The same with suburbs and towns with German names were changed as well at that time.

When milk was free at primary school, I hated the taste, especially it not being refrigerated and out in the hot sun.
There used to be straws that had a flaboured centre inside that made it taste like strawbery or chocolate.

Also my username was something that kids in the day used to make and living any near where there were down hill roads, the local council would hold races on closed roads two at a time with the winners going through. Pulling them up the hill was a bugger though.
Yup doughnut type bun in Adelaide - similar to the "Hot American Donuts" I recall at the Adelaide Show. Kitchener Buns were a bit different. Got lost at sea.
At my primary school we got them in the morning after delivery and were still cold thank God.

Something else I used to see in the 80s that I don't see anymore, when someone is going to turn right into an intersection, they used to go to the far right of the lane so if someone wanted to turn left, there was enough room to get through.

Tasteless, might as well have been eating the packet. What was that lemon biscuit that had a sweet and salty taste, I liked those.
