for me i never really got too see him play cos of my age, but in the grand final im happy he was the last to have the ball and throw it up in he air cos i know just from that he was a champion of the club and that will forever remain in magpie history. i have gone too his grave at the cemetary a couple times too pay respect, when is the anniversary of his death? i think i might go down there too pay more respect for him on the day... also, i see his brothers car around in Rowville i can tell cos the number plate being PANTS with a blue backround.. :)

R.I.P PANTS

I can't remember who it was we played that day, but I was at Vic Park and it was a home and away round at Vic Park. I was there with a few mates, all of us about 14-15 years old. Crackers Keenan's son was with us while we were having a kick on the ground after the game as everybody did back then. Cracker's son told us we could come into the rooms to meet the guys with him, so we went in. It was unbelievable to us as kids, standing in the same room as the mighty pies. Daics, Browny, kelly and McGuane were all fantastic towards us and were happy to sign our footy's and our footy jumpers. I went up to Pants, as he was my favorite and asked him, he replied "F**K Off you little C**T!" As I was walking away, he called out "Come here you little bastard, I was only joking". He signed everything and spoke to me for a good 5 minutes and then even came over to where my mates were and signed their stuff for them. He was such a nice bloke, and one of the toughest bastards to ever play for us. The night he had his accident was one of the worst I can remember. I've never driven after having a drink, and I have never used a mobile whilst driving, and that's all because of what happened to Darren. He was a star. RIP Pants.

Classic story :thumbsu::)

Hmmmm, I really enjoy these stories, please don't hesitate in sharing yours if you have some. There are so many of us out there that might not be contributing to this thread, but are enjoying reading them. You can never hear enough of Darren Millane's stories :thumbsu::)

Great Post............ I still talk about millane to people, just how strong, intimidating, toughness at the footy, a powerfull man, Paid money just to watched millane own his wing because opposition players were too scared to go near him!!! First in when a team mate went down behind play, and bled for the black and white, thats why his teammates love him. When he had that unfortunate accident i as many others was guttered! there never has been a player come close to "Pants"! (R.I.P):thumbsu:

RIP indeed.

I was young and only remember sketches of him playing.

We used to have a little memorabilia in our house, it was a poem for Millane that we bought. It was part of the club's merchandise that year, or the following year.

I don't know what happened to it.

One of my all time favorites.

Pants was always happy to have a beer and a chat after the game up in the social club. Gave the supporters so much. Also big on doing the hospital rounds visiting sick kids.

Would love to have seen him finish his career, settle down and have about 20 kids... all sons!

Would have almost definitely won the '92 flag had he still been there.

My cousin's first two dogs were called Millane and Daics... loved them both to bits.

Warwick Capper, WTF?
He is a ********, but he had that much talent coming out of the wazoo, very exciting to watch.

May have been a reason handy point got into AFL

It's ironic that this post was put up because I was thinking about the great man only recently.
I don't believe we recovered from his loss for more than a decade after his passing, such was his importance to the club.
I cannot think of anyone that played the game with more courage than Pants.
Great memories.

Even as a 10 y/o in the mid 80's there was nfw i was going for a team with that clown (and Greg Williams and Edelsten).

So I chose the team that appeared to be the opposite.

Great memories.

The 20 year reunion of the 1990 Premiership Team is being held on Wednesday the 9th of June at the Crown Paladium.

I expect an empty place will be set for Pants.

That day holds the greatest memories of Pants for me. His entire career summed up in one afternoon.

Here is a memory for you. I was with the guys after the 90 premiership in a pub in London. This is before we played the bombers in the match at the oval. Wright was blind drunk handcuffed to the leg of a chair, A player had introduced me to his girlfriend, but think he was already married, Cristian could barly talk and was hanging onto me trying to talk and Pants was at the bar with his his tracksuit pants down around his knees yelling out, Hey DJ, have a look at my new tatt. Had the magpie emblem tattoo on the inside of his leg. The whole time shouting drinks for everyone in the group. Now the funny thing is no-one in the pub had any idea who the hell we all were.
