Anyone else hate it when the get pop songs and just remix the same crappy dance beat to them and then like it is something cool! I can't stand remixes, I've only ever heard 1 or 2 that are actually better than the original.....but luckily they usually do them to crap songs!

In 'dance' music there is a ton of remixes which are better than the original IMO.

Alanis Morissette - So Pure (Hybrid Remix)
DB Boulevarde - Point of View (Quivver Remix)
Dido - Take my hand (Brothers N Rhythm Remix)
Kosheen - Hide U (Satoshi Tomiie Main Path Remix)

Just to name a few ;)

Theres two fantastic remixes of Kylies new song, Come Into My World. One of them is the Ashtrax mix...the other one is done by Fischerspooner, which i might add, is much better than the original :)

Don't worry, Pride's just continuing his anti-dance campaign.
How many remixes have you actually listened to Pride?
Underworld's fantastic track Born Slippy has several different remixes which are fantastic, while there was also the remix by Clivilles and Cole of Pride..inthe name of , a U2 song that was pretty good.
Like any form of music Pride, there are good remixes and bad remixes, some of which are just caused by laziness.
Experiment a little more, rather than just refer to the remixes of popular songs you hear on SAFM or Triple M, and you might find something a little more interesting.

The remixes of that track are brilliant!

Agreed. There are plenty of remixes that are better than the original in dance music.

Nothing wrong with remixes at all.

Kosheen - Hungry (Satoshi Tomiie Vocal Remix Edit) is a lot better than the original as well!

Best remix ive ever heard is on the 'Clubbers Guide To Breaks' cd.

Basement Jaxx - Wheres Your Head At (Stanton Warriors Mix). It is so much better than the original its not funny!!!

The remixes on SAFM are the ones I am refering too! Why take a song that is fine and then remix into a dance beat when the artists never meant the song to be played like that!

When an already dance song has a different beat, that is a different story!

I like that Basement Jaxx song, but I'm not not sure which mix i hear when I hear it!

But thats the whole point. They are re-mixes. They are meant to be a bit different.

I think the whole problem here tho is that you listen to SAFM!!

Well said. It cracks me up a person making 'astute' observations about music when they listen to SAFM and probably only SAFM.
Yes, SAFM might play some good music, but they have a nrrow view on the music world and every post that you make Pride reveals that you are no different. Sorry, I don't like bagging people, but your comments in this thread and two others are just bad.

Actually, I'm a channel skipper personally. I rarely listen to SAFM, often Triple J or Triple M or sometimes 3D, which play a lot of local stuff! But often i listen to cd's anyway as i only listen to the radio in my car as i don't have a tape or cd player. (I must get one)

So before you make assumptions, check the facts.

You havent exactly been presenting the facts and from what facts you had presented (your taste in music, mentioning remixes you have heard on SAFM) I thought that I had made a fair assumption.
While, it's good to see you are varied in what you listen to on the radio - I find it interesting that all of the favourite musicians you mentioned in your favourites are fiarly mainstream, there is no divergence.
It's all scmaltz, radio friendly stuff.
Nothing a bit right of field.
I'm just finding heaps of contradictions in what you have been saying in the three (?) threads in which we have had discussions.
By the way, I'm enjoying this little debate and not stalking you or anyting in order to try and make a fool of you as some others would. It just an interesting debate.

I know a guy remixing another Icehouse tune (not the one you're thinking of) and Iva Davies is actually helping him do it...by all reports its meant to be pretty sweet

That's an old project that was done in themid to early 90s I think. I also think that Iva was behind it.

Each track was done by seperate aussie DJ's. I think PJ Ferris or whatever the **** he calls himself murdered 'Crazy'. It came out last week I think. Blue cover.

Hmm. I recall a greatest hits compile and now I think about it, they weren't remixed, but did seamlessly link into each other - what's the term - kind of like a non-stop Icehouse party album.
