It was a perjorative term used to describe idealistic young progressive lefties who think they hold the moral high ground on every issue, who adopt a near-militant attitude towards shaming anyone who doesn't get fully on board with their various policy prescriptions.

So if you disagree with the current left-wing orthodoxy about transgenderism, and you have more of an "atheist" belief in science and biology, then you are ostracised as being "transphobic".

Or if you vote "no" in the referendum, the typical SJW will automatically brand you as racist when there are a variety of reasons why half the population will vote no. Some because of racism. Others for different reasons. Some of the 'no' voters may also care deeply about the plight of indigenous Australians, but they believe this isn't the way to go about it, by creating racial divisions in our constitution.

This is not my belief, by the way. I'm repeating the words of someone I've been arguing with for the past month. They also believe that creating welfare dependence is detrimental to people in the long run. The typical conservative would argue that it's actually keeping people in poverty, whereas the typical Social Justice Warrior would advocate for more welfare schemes.

It's an interesting conundrum. I can see both sides of that debate. Not that I want to argue about it here in this thread. I only bring it up because it goes back to what I said about Social justice Warriors (or the so-called "Woke Mob") thinking they're the only people with the right ideas and that everyone else is f***** in the head.

The operative word in that sneering expression is "Warriors"

What's more concerning is the amount of people who stick up for and agree with some of Sam Newman's views. I think it's a pretty worrying reflection on the country, and humanity as a whole. I think 200 some years down the track his legacy will be nothing but Hitler in the footy world.
