If farmer gets injured, suspended or has a loss of form who would replace him?
For me bell but is there anyone else
hmm maybe crowley??
id make the foward line this:

HF: Tarrant Pavlich Solomon
FF: Crowley Murphy Longmuir

yeh i think thatd work alrite
plus we could maybe throw campbell or drum in the foward line some time this year
and bell and headland would play a bit in the foward line too

gee our depths great :D
the only player i dont think we could replace is sandilands
like warnock would be good when hes fully fit, but i think he needs some more game time first
pavlich would be tough too obviously, but i believe we would play tarrant at chf maybe and we'd replace him quite nicely

BRING ON ROUND 1!!!

campbell too tall and slow but drum sounds alright for his defensive skills or duffman maybe.

Is Farmer coming back from an injury or anything? He had a bad intraclub game, and went missing during the NAB CUP 1 also. Hope he can find some form before the season gets back proper, we only really have one very good small forward now that we dumped Medhurst (which I think we got the better end of).

I think Browne could come in. He has played up there before, although his shooting for goals was poor. But he is a speedy player who can get to the ball at ground level. Although he won't play this year, Collard looks perfect.

We'd probably rotate Hasleby/Headland/Browne/Bell through the position. Duffield has spent time at half forward over summer and could fill the role. If Mourish or Collard are tearing it up in the wafl they would be a chance too.

Don't worry about Jeff at this time of year, he works best with Mr Parker in the team, he sucks all the animation our of Shane and it boosts the Wiz's animation battery bank.

i think browne could be a good option but i also like the thought of drum down there

For me it is definitely Ryan Crowley.
He has great sense of where the ball is going, good solid shot on goal, can mark and his defensive pressure is fantastic.

I also like the fact that he upsets the opponent and maybe he could get a free kick or two up forward from it

For me it is definitely Ryan Crowley.

Crowley has done some nice things on the forward line but is more important elsewhere. Anyway, replacing a 174cm player with a 189cm player raises questions for me. It isn't simply about how tall they are, but what they do. Farmer skims across the gound sharking the ball after it has hit the deck, then creating mayhem with his dancing footwork. Of course he can take a mark, but that's not what his value is to us. And his chasing and closing speed is a weapon.

From all reports I've heard Clayton Collard will not play AFL this year and will be given a year of development at the club and playing WAFL

Collard is mentioned in posts #5 and #6. Unlikely that he will debut this year IMO due to our depth and his lack of preseason.

Really looking forward to Collard's development. He sounds very exciting, and is probably a fantastic long term replacement for Farmer. Hopefully he will also be useful midfield.

I'd be surprised if Collard isn't given a taste with Freo this year if his WAFL form is good enough. Whether he'd be a straight swap for the Wiz if that situation ever occurred is another matter.

Even a couple of games off the bench to get him used to the tempo required.

Having followed his progress for WA as far back as the State 15s Championships in Queensland. This guy has the goods.

Tundrawoldf the line up to get a game in the squad is pretty long, and there will be few who get very limited opportunity this year. A year of training with an AFL squad should do Collard and the other young lads a heap of good.

Agreed Gav, but we all know some players get chosen ahead of others, if, in the eyes of the selection committee that player can fill a particular role. I'm sure we wouldn't see a Cook, Walker or a Macca playing out of a forward pocket. Just as a Clayton Collard wouldn't get a guernsey in the backline.

IMO if he is fit and has a good WAFL season I think he will get a game. Not many of our really high quality draft picks haven't played at least a game or two the season they are drafted.

Its been 2000 years and they still haven't replaced the last Jesus. You're not going to get a replacement for our Jesus either. This is all silly talk.

I agree Dr Ralph. Someone could play in his place but replace him - never.

Farmer will almost certainly miss round one after that eye gouge IMO.

Mourish kicked 4 goals in a half in the wafl yesterday.

Itdidn't look good at all. I hate that sort of stuff, and it is completely unnecessary. Having siad that, I didn't actually see footage that showed him actually gouge the eye. Defintiely in the area. I'm not trying to condone it at all, just wondering if he may get off on a technicallity.
