With Kenny out this week and god forbid he sustains a long term injury who is our best option?

Would you try and breed the youngster in Smith ( macca 23 Don't choke ) size wise he is 194 and 90kg I have never seen him play until tonight

Bock is he strong enough?

Hentschell who I believe would be a better back than forward would be stifled at CHB unless he got to play the C.Cornes role as a loose man

Bassett Would give you good a good contest but is he big enough, I know he has played against the bigger fellas B Hall and done a very good job

Rutten Certainly big enough but does he have the speed and aerobic capacity to go with the Tredreas

Or do you play horses for courses and change according to the oppositions line up ?

Surely thats a bannable offence! :D

Seriously, I think we would be up the proverbial without him. I think we would have to take the approach of horses for causes as we do not have the luxury of a replacement at the present time.

have we seen enough of him to make an informed decision I know i certainly haven't
Looking back Kenny used to take an absolute pasting as well
I'm not saying they are in the same league, lets at least be open minded about tonights performance and see how he performs at CHB

Scott Stevens :)

Pretty good replacment.

Can take a good mark, and usually does pretty well in defence. His game against Port 2 weeks ago showed that he can hold it up pretty well. If he develops consistency in his game, then I'm all for it.:)

Bock is a real concern at the moment. He is in line to get delisted by year's end if he doesn't show enough signs.

Putting Hentschel at CHB isn't a bad idea either. He did pretty well there at times in 2004 and with his extra bulk could prove more than handy.

s stevens isnt a natural defender, bocky is the man i think, hasnt he put of 10kg so he wonts be out muscled anymore, he looks heavier on tele anyway. In the wizzers, trying someone like Gibson wouldnt hurt, you can always learn stuff down back.

I agree with you Jack. If history has taught us anything Stevens and Bock are never going to be that greater players especially in defense., In the few occasions Stevens and Bock have looked good they have been playing as a forward, hopefullly Gibson will find this his niche :)

The only thing that ********s me off with Scott Stevens is that he is one of those blokes that can't put on much weight and he is inconsistent. You mentioned the Port game. In that game you could see the best and worst of Scott. In the first quarter he was pathetic but played well after QTR time. Granted he was doubling up on Tredrea.

He has a footy brain and I think he plays best in the backline. He just needs to improve his consistecy.

IMO Bock is a natural rebounding defender and would be my choice

after him - ? - S Stevens but he has really disappointed me - i thought he may make a good 3rd tall in defence but he just has not improved - and cannot/will not bulk up

perhaps Gibson later in the year

Smith? - he just intrigues me - still plays like a flanker but big enough to be KPP
