Bell - leadership deserves an A, struggled at times with injuries. Rating :- B+

Black - solid season. Rating :- A- (can do better).

Josh Carr - up and down season. Rating :- B-

Matt Carr - injury racked season, never really got into gear. Rating :- C+

Cook - gave his all. Rating :- B+

Crowley - came from nowhere (Lions den) to add some spark. Rating :- C+

Dodd - added some aggro. Rating :- C+

Dunn - injury racked, no rating.

Farmer - worked very hard with few tangible results. Rating :- B+

Gilmore - played well in a few AFL games, played very well at WAFL level. Rating :- C

Grover - started very shakily, but finished off very well. Rating :- B+

Haddrill - injured in round 1 (you b....... Shane Parker was heard mumbling), no rating.

Hasleby - played injured but worked his way through the season. Rating :- B

Headland - very ordinary season, but is there light at the end of the tunnel?. Rating :- C

Johnson - developing player, did some good work. Rating :- C+

JLo - up and down season, playing a more "around the ground" role. Rating :- B-

McManus - few opportunities but worked very hard at WAFL level. Rating :- C

McPharlin - moved forward and quickly displayed his "rising" talent, but must be more consistent. Rating :- B

Medhurst - poor attitude, poor results. Rating :- conceded pass.

Mundy - star of our new intake. Rating :- B+

Murphy - few opportunities, being kept at the feedlots for 2006. Rating :- C

Parker - performed as expected, upset the Sports Master of St Eddies but this just added to his charming character. Rating :- A

Pav - performed as we had hoped, class with a capital C. Rating :- A

Peake - has adapted well to the senior level and can now feel that he really belongs in the senior group. Rating :- C+

Polak - took some big knocks but needs to obtain some consistency. Rating :- C.

Sandilands - like a blossoming flower, he is starting to open up and display a large array of talents (doubters are seen doing lots of beep beep beep). Rating :- B+ (next year A .......)

Schammer - improved as the season when on after an early season injury. Rating :- B-

Schofield - mmmmmmmmmm, seemed in cruise mode. Rating :- fail ?.

Siegert - started the season well but got squeezed out. Rating :- C?.

Smith - nuggety player but unable to get a regular game. Rating :- C?

Thornton - still needs to fill out but stuck to tasks and provided good run off the backline. Rating :- B

Walker - injury racked first half of the season, seemed to be still regaining confidence. Rating :- C

Webster - sqeezed out. Rating :- C or fail?

Woods - what a crying shame, he's got it all (except attitude?), but does he realise that gift?. Rating :- fail

It is not easy to rate players but I have given a (+) where I think they have played above the grade by giving their all (eg. Grover, Mundy), or a (-) where i think they can play better with more consistent application (eg. Black, Josh Carr).

Pretty close to the mark.
I would have rated Carr's season a little lower considering it wasnt as good as it as last season.
Headland deserves a higher rating, allot of the errors from 04 in my opinion have gone, he seems to be the balanced player we know he can more consistently.
Thornton cops it allot, but he came from nowhere, has obviously been talk to run off his player and from what I have seen does extremely well considering his obvious lacking in the weight department.

I think you have to take into consideration what was expected of each player prior to the season. You've given Dodd, Peake, Crowley, Headland and Polak C grades or a C+. Because very little was expected of Peake and Crowley before the season they have exceded expectations and deserve a B+, with Peake almost deserving an A. Headland and Polak needed to take the next step and didn't so deserve a C- or a D. One good game against richmond doesn't make a season Des and he was terrible against port. The rest look about right though.

I reckon Pav should have been given an A+. Everyone thought he do well in his new role, but not to the extent where he's likely to win the AA CHF jumper.

Look Pav had a darn good year, but I reckon he can do better ........ I am holding off with the + until he absolutely "pants" 3 opponents every game.

The story of Freo's season is in the number of players who got B, they must lift next season to A. eg. Hase, Bell, Carr's, Schammer etc.
