Headed down to Gosh's Paddok and Watch the Boys smash the Coburg Tigers.

The Kids got a Run in Blight,Steele,Dawes,Thoolen,Keeffe,Rounds and Blair.

Quick Note of each player:

BlightVery Impressed with him today has huge leap. Took some very good marks, Good Kick and smart footy brain. Might even get a game vs the Bombers.

Steele: Was okay without doing anything that jumped out but layed tones of tackles and got alot of the inside ball.

Dawes: Very good game from the Big Man looked very Determined and when we started 1 on 1 took somer very strong marks but after that had 2 plus players on him afterwards still tried very hard. Loved when he missed the mark but he just kept coming and leveled the bloke who took the mark.

Thoolen: Not Too bad Kicked 2 Goals and looks a very accurate kick from a set shot.

Rounds: Solid Game best moment was a Run Down a Goal from it

Blair: Was Good in and under and getting the ball.

VFL Players I noticed where:

  • Sheenen
  • Hayes
  • Mugvin
  • R Colbert
  • Hogan

I think it's also relevant that Barham , Stanley and Bryan were quite dominant.
Sidebottom did some standout things and looks like a player who will adapt easy to the centre square eventually. Less of a gun flanker and hope like a Didak or Thomas.
Dave -The Man , appeared to have his shirt buttoned up high, so there were no glimpses of the luxurious mane on his chest.

what was the score thx
No scoreboard but us by 7 or 8 goals i heard at work today.

As well how nice is barham, is that ricky's son? txt from the old man

There was no scoreboard , but I reckon we won by 8-10 goals. Blighty looked very good , He's quick , has a thumping accurate left boot , and played all day at HBF . Dawes was a great focal down forward, must have taken at least a dozen marks, but also missed a few goals. Stanley was relatively quiet, didn't play to the expectations. I thought Rounds and Francis played very well. Both looked quick, skilled, and tough. The Sack also played his usual negating self on the back line.
This is my first post on Big Footy, I hope that the spelling and grammatical errors are less than DTM!!

Hmmm, that would be good since he is a right footer... I hope it was him you were seeing because I am excited about him, but now there is some doubt for mine.

Another Report Here:

No scoreboard but pies would of won by 7-9 goals with ease. Coburg played the same zone as richmond and there skills are woeful. Pies were more skillful and ran the ball by hand through the midfield with flair. Pies applied alot of pressure and tackled hard.
Rocca, Medhurst, Rusling, Bennell did not play today.

Some thoughts on players-

Dick- Kicked a couple of great goals looks in good touch, tired in the second half. still a way off.

Steele- excellent all day. on two occasions he read the ball straight off the ruckmans palm while running at pace and cleared the throw up. He is a great tackler. Tackles with intensity and won 2 frees from holding the ball decisions. Good in traffic and knows how to use the ball. Rested the last qtr.

Stanley- Won of the best games i have seen him play, cleared the centre regularly, went hard at every contest and his kicking skills have improved. There was one instance the ball was loose he and a coburg player charged at each other and he won the a free kick for high contact. Another one who tackles hard. Went forward in the last qtr.

Barham- Natural wingman, his pace and evasiveness cut up Coburg in the first half. Very good game. Rested the last qtr.

Keefe- Suprise packet for mine. Is progressing well, his skills are improving from what i saw at the inra club in Jan, kicked 2 goals including a great snap in the last qtr. Played ruck and forward. Reading the play alot better.
Gets alot of encouragement from the PIES boys on the sideline.

Goldsack- Played on Polak. For me he is too good for this level, cleared it with ease.

Reed- Goldsack clone? Plays very similar and will improve as the year goes on, no obvious weaknesses.

Blight- Exciting, thumping left or right foot kick on the wings, Flies for his marks and takes players on. He got better as the game went on.

Francis- Hard nosed back flanker, from reports his kicking was average, but i thought it was pretty good today. Good performance.

Blair- Little terrier who worked hard on ball all day. Tackled hard and got in and under the packs.

Wellingham- Along with Steele, Barham was the next best. Again he tackled well and worked hard in the midfield and at half forward.

Thoolen- increased hid intencity since lst year and played CHB. Ran down the ground and kicked 2 goals. Much better than what i saw in 08.

Dawes- FF all day. Kicked a couple of goals, marked well on the lead, one on one was behind a bit too much. one piece of play were he dropped a mark but followed it up with a great tackle.

Bryan- Dominated the ruck, looks fit and took marks around the ground. Kicked a couple of goals also.

Rounds- HBF most of the day with a few stints in the middle.

Coburg had Polak and Jake King but apart from that could not recognize any others. Apart from the listed pies playes the rest were kids- no sign of Colbert, Frost or any other VFL players from last year.

So out of that, you'd have to think Sidebottom, Wellingham and Barham would have to be seriously considered for next week.

Looks like Medhurst will be the only experienced player ready, so we will still have room for these 3.
