COLLINGWOOD forward Anthony Rocca is still a chance to play against Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday, but midfielder Scott Pendlebury appears in some doubt.
Speaking ahead of his team’s clash with the Demons, coach Mick Malthouse said Rocca could yet come into calculations for a late call-up despite his absence from the named emergencies.
"These are the idiosyncrasies of selection on a Thursday night," Malthouse said.
"We don’t train [for the final time] until today.
"He’s trained very well but I’m not prepared to comment too much on our final 22 other than to say what’s been in the paper has been selected at this stage."
Even if he doesn't line up for the Pies, Malthouse said Rocca would definitely play at some level this weekend.
Pendlebury trained away from the main group on Wednesday and was missing from Friday's session.
"Scott wasn’t out there. He’s a bit sore," Malthouse said.
"People are sore. You’ve got to make sure they’re 100 per cent ready to go. We’ll weigh that up."
^^ meaning Beams will play!!!
yippee
Almost had a heart attack. Thought it was Mitch Brown from WCProbably doesnt affect too many dt'ers:
By Mic Cullen 12:51 PM Sat 04 April, 2009
DRAFTEE Mitch Brown has broken his leg in the curtain-raiser for Saturday afternoon's match between Geelong and Richmond at Skilled Stadium.
The 18-year-old was selected by Geelong with its first pick (No. 15) in November's NAB AFL Draft.
Last month, Geelong assistant coach Brendan McCartney saw promise in the 195cm, 82kg key forward.
"He's a very young, physically immature player, but he has a good understanding of where to go on a football ground and where to find the ball," McCartney told afl.com.au.
Brown is believed to have broken his tibia after an innocuous-looking tackle at the end of the second term.

Agh sigh. And so i start ottens and rich, and beams scores 94. I really should back myself more. I knew this would happen...Question is, who do i start out of beams, otten and rich? Odd one out will be an emergency in case beams doesnt play.

SWANS spearhead Barry Hall could miss up to three matches after he tore his right adductor muscle in the last term of Saturday night's match against Hawthorn.
Hall, who kicked four goals in a dominant display, limped from the field and took no further part in the match after he fell over another player and hurt his groin in a contest for the ball early in the last quarter.
Swans doctor Nathan Gibbs will know the exact extent of the injury when he assesses Hall today.
"He could run for a minute or two and then he couldn't run at all. It is always a bad sign when it forces you off the field because Barry doesn't (normally) come off. So if he comes off, you know it is significant," Gibbs said.
"We will have to see how it pulls up but like any muscle tear the normal healing time is two to three weeks. But we will see what we can do and see how it settles down.
"The way Barry plays ... if he can't run he is no longer very effective so we want to make sure he is 100 per cent."
Hall was damaging in Sydney's 38-point win over the premiers at ANZ Stadium. He would be sorely missed during the next few weeks, when Sydney travels to the Gabba, then meets a resurgent Carlton at home before heading to Subiaco to play Fremantle.
