Your hand in the water displaces the volume to the size and shape of your hand. If you pull it out again you don't leave a big hand shaped hole, the water levels out.

what if you put your winky in the bucket

That would be awesome, will you have a couple of weeks off and start your new job sooner?
No, four weeks. I will start March 12, which is a four day week due to Labour Day.

I was called in to the CEO's office with my manager. We all agreed me being walked was the best way to move forward. I couldn't have really left on better terms. The mutual respect between both of us was very high and I've been told I'll always be welcome back should I want to return. The three of us were all disappointed it had to end the way it did. But that's business. I thanked them for everything they've done for me, and the opportunities they gave me. They thanked me for all my hard work and understood my decision to leave.

Packing my stuff up and just leaving without saying goodbye to my team was incredibly hard and made me sad. Seeing my manager in tears, and saying goodbye to her in tears was one of the hardest things I've had to do. It's hard to believe after nearly four years it's done just like that.

After I left the CEO called a meeting to inform our floor and apparently gave me a glowing send off. Apparently said

"That you have left a lasting impression on a lot of people. That it wasn't a decision you made lightly not was it for them and that he didn't want people to think they made you leave. He said he understands if its upset people that you've left because you've always had a smile on your face and always bring a good vibe to the office."

I don't think I could have left on better terms given the circumstances.

Ive been at my job for 12+ years and enjoy it.

Its so easy now. Its not work. Its close to home and free parking.

The pay isnt amazing but its enough to get by.

Id only consider moving for a HUGE pay increase.

Id hate to start again and be the new guy all unco.

Happy to stay where I am until I either am sacked, they shut the soors or fire me or I die.

So valuable they were able to drop you at an hours notice?

I'm not even touching the rest of the fairytale.

I only took one sick day last year, clearly need to lift my game
I know.

I didnt take any and I think my last one was in Dec 2017 when my father in law had a stroke and I sat with the family.

So not actually sick.

If Im having a bad/frustrating day I always think "nup stuff this Im calling in sick tomorrow" but by the next day I just think "eh just go in" and "Ill be bored sitting at home all day"

I often think of the future. Because I dont hate my job I think when(if) I retire I'll go insane with boredom sitting at home watching daytime tv

I was going to be less harsh than this, but yeah pretty much everyone is more replaceable than they think they are.

Good work on getting the new job, but you'll be forgotten about within a month of leaving the current one.
A guy at my work over rates himself big time.

He's a good worker but he's always going on like "this place would be Farked without me... if i left this place would go under"

I said "seriously no one here is that important. Even the top, top, top CEO guy could leave and the place wouldnt change... it would be shit for a few weeks or so but would improve "

He went quiet.

I know people who get 100-200K salary increases so i guess i'm just use to big numbers.
I just cant even imagine what kind of lifestyle that would bring.

I dont think I could handle it.

Id be like "ok bills paid... bit of savings... ummm takeaway tonight again!!"

Id be 200kgs for sure

It's business. It's what happens when you go to a competitor.

One of the harshest life truths is not death or your parents divorcing or dying, its the fact that the machinery goes on with or without you

Cheers for clarifying, was a bit confused why they had to "walk you out"

FWIW- had a teacher quit here after like a week. I hope the Principal gave him the kick up the arse out- such a shit of a thing to do at the beginning of the school year.
