I was pretty jaded for a while at my job and, before sticking it out and deciding to go to uni for a long-term career change plan, I was very close to pulling the pin. Sanity prevailed, but I was very close to researching whether I could hire a singing clown to deliver the message that I was quitting in an expletive-laden song and dance routine in my bosses office. It would have been beautiful.

I handed in my resignation a month ago, My manager told the boss and knowing I didn't want any fuss made about me leaving didn't tell anyone else.

I didn't tell anyone either so no one would of known I was leaving until they turned up this week and found out I wasn't there anymore 😎

This is perfect. I would love to know what your co-workers said when they discovered you'd disappeared.

Manager: Hey guys, just letting you all know that revo333 is no longer working with us.

Co-workers: who?

This happens at my school- reading the bulletins anyway is quite commn for me to read someone has resigned and i have nfi who they are

Had some interesting resignations. First one was leaving a government department, two weeks notice, on my last day we had a farewell cake and my fellow slaves presented me with a toaster oven, then I went around the different managers offices thanking them and wishing them well, leaving Charlie Smith (he's either dead now or in a home for the decrepit and ancient so I'm sure he won't mind me using his name) to last. I told him how much I'd enjoyed working there for three years except for when I had to deal with him, "You are an arrogant and imperious bastard and I hope to never have to work with the likes of you ever again." His deputy in the next office had a coughing fit, Charlie turned purple and followed me through the office screaming at me to get out.

Bridge burnt.

Teachers should give six weeks notice apparently. I dont i only need to give two i believe

Teaching isn't like most professions though. You really should commit at least on a term by term basis. Would be a pain in the nuts to have someone quit two weeks into a new term.

In most jobs it doesn't really make any difference. But if you quit around Christmas of EOFY it's a dick move in some businesses.

Does happen. Teachers starting realise it isnt for them and basically walk out. Would be a nightmare being a principal imho

I resigned from my first job (big business) and handed the boss the letter and just said something like 'yeah I've finished school and uni now so probably time to move on'. I'm sure they just went to the workplace draft and got the next 15/16 year old in who is a 1 in 10 chance of being any good.

When I left my first real job (smallish business) the notice period wasn't clearly defined so I asked the boss and the admin/payroll person and they said it was two weeks. Ended up staying 4 to tie up some loose ends and agreed a start date for the new job a week after that. They wouldn't have minded if I wanted to leave early or do the 2 weeks but I had work left to finish and no immediate plans so may as well get paid for another fortnight and not leave them with stuff to finish.

Didn't win the $150m but was eyeing off my desk for flipability. No bad blood with anyone but if you can walk out and never work again gotta milk that.
