In preparation of the upcoming VGA Live Action trailer with more gameplay influence that will show off Resistance 3 I thought I'd chuck up a thread for what is looking to be my no.1 MP game in 2011.
First off a few things that fans of the series will love to know. Insomniac are listening to the fans and through that are bringing back from Fall of Man. First thing is the weapon wheel will be back, so no 2 weapons only, you'll be able to keep each weapon you pick up and choose what you want when you want for specific situations.
The return of full campaign co-op also comes back. Not only will it be 2 player split screen co-op as with Fall of Man (allowing for multiple PSN sign ins too) but it will be online compatible as well.
60 Player MP won't be returning with a number smaller than that still being worked on. The competitive MP might be taking a turn for the COD, they mention "progression based MP" so I'm guessing that will be a leveling up system similar to COD.
More shall be revealed at the VGA's this weekend.

Story Summary (Resistance 2 spoilers):
First of all, the main protagonist in Resistance 3 is Joseph Capelli, the Sentinel who (HUGE RESISTANCE 2 SPOILERS HERE… if you haven’t played it yet, go buy a Greatest Hits copy now!) was forced to kill Nathan Hale at the end of R2. Capelli was dishonorably discharged, and four years later is living in hiding with his wife, Susan, and son, Jack, along with other survivors in the town of Haven, Oklahoma. He’s given up fighting, and is now just trying to hide and survive the Chimeran death squads that roam the planet. But when Dr. Malikov arrives with an opportunity to deliver a blow to the Chimera, Capelli embarks on a road trip to New York City. Resistance 3 is a tale of Capelli’s heroic journey across the country as he encounters the remnants of humanity left in the aftermath of the brutal invasion.
