He's really beaten the odds, for someone to have such a massive trauma history from such a young age, the likelihood of him developing significant mental health issues in early adulthood was very high, but to his credit and to that of those around him, Jimmy is not only functional in life but successful too.
Agreed. It's very fortunate that Jimmy has grown into the man that he is. Not just a great footballer but seemingly a very nice bloke and good husband and father, too. When people come from situations like these, the children can grow up with a number of different issues that manifest themselves into various problems in their adult lives. Sometimes these things can become generational, so it's good to see he's broken the cycle. It seems his mother was a very positive influence on him growing up, and probably why Bartel has grown into a far better person than his father was.
