We all know that the top teams rest alot of players around this time of year, just curious as to which players people think are going to be rested come SC finals. Lyon and Thompson are the worst offenders resting players left right and centre. Montagna, Enright, Pods have all been flagged as possible rest victims, and Ablett, Chappy and the like are renowned for it. Who are going to be the key offenders this year?

yep its definitly hard, hopefully they rest them in round 20 where (hopefully) ill have the week off in my main league... that would be sweet coz also it could help one of the less likely teams without say a goddard montagna or someone get up and win helping you out even more

Wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of Saints players got rested. Hopefully Goddard and NDS missing games recently was their rest already. Not sure if the Pies will rest players or not. Hawthorn have already shown with Buddy they'll rest players if they're slightly injured.

possibility of resting according to afl fixture....assuming resting only against non finals teams

R20 COLL vs ESS
R21 COLL vs ADEL

might depend on result vs geelong hardbodies R19 and the lead into R22 vs hawks. id say good chance of resting vs ess, and maybe vs adel.

R22 GEEL vs WCE

all the stars align for the cats to rest several in this game. yes the SC GF.
chapman, pods, bartel most likely.

R19 STK vs PORT
R20 STK vs NTH
R21 STK vs RICH
R22 STK vs ADEL

the saints in a great spot to take out a few from each game. some have had a recent rest, so maybe not those.

i havent considered the dogs as they are clinging to 4th. hall would be likely.

Montagna, Hayes, Bartel, Chappy, Pods, and many many other names.

The other thing is with the draw that St Kilda have in the last 2 rounds, and what we have in the final round, resting has to be almost certain.

One good thing I think we'll see the clubs rest many players over the next month, rather than all in the same week, so most coaches should be able to cover their losses.

personally i only have goddard from saintland, and i wont be bringing in any others. but the cats i have is a huge risk - moving pods on in the next 2 weeks.

Can anybody remember, do most team rest players in the final week or two? I would have thought most teams would do their resting before rounds 21-22 so they could go in to the finals with a settled team, meaning from now until round 20 would be the danger period. That is unless your player is from a team outside the 8 which they're more likely to rest players in the last 2 weeks.

Last year it was really rounds 17-19 that had the rests, IIRC (without bothering to look it up). So you could be right, but this year is definitely different with the ladder positions up for grabs.

im taking a punt on roo tho, he needs match fitness for finals. bit iffy about montagna, im saving a trade and will prob get hardingham on my mid bench next week just so i have cover if him or ablett get sat out.
