Our club desperately needs a review of the football department over the past decade.
Most would agree, we all expected the 2006 premiership to be the first of many.
With all factors considered, we have vastly underachieved in the past decade.
We bowed out in straight sets the following year (2007). We then hit probably the worst period in the club's history, missing the finals for the next three years and took out our maiden wooden spoon in 2010.
We rebounded strongly to finish in the top four in 2011 and made the prelim.
The following year we struggled to back up and lost yet another final at the G. We recruited Sharrod Wellingham and expected to go further than we did in 2011 before IMO having one of the most disappointing seasons in our history in 2013.
We finished 9th in 2014, probably overachieved to make the GF in 2015 before having a sluggish start of the year and hitting our straps towards the business end to host a final last year before we were deeply embarrassed by the Dogs at home.
This year for mine was akin to 2013 in so many ways. I truly thought we'd make the top four, and two years on from our Grand Final appearance, I thought we'd greatly improve and go close to replicating that form. We were painful to watch for practically every second game this year - embarrassing loses to Gold Coast, Collingwood, Melbourne and some pitiful performances.
We need to review our club from the ground up, and assess how effective we've been. I want us to revisit that success our club was built on in the early days, not pale away to nothing more than the corporate club I feel we're becoming.
