Only 36 tackles on the weekend, not sure if that is a record low. 1/3 of them were by Redden and Zorko (6 each) so pretty ordinary effort from the rest, 6 of whom didn't lay a glove on.
As for Cornelius, his stats pretty much matched Browny's on the weekend and I don't hear anybody suggesting the Great Man be rested. Maybe he should be coz he looks spent to me. I know it won't happen but.;)

That sounds about right, we just looked so lazy and uninterested from the opening bounce, happy to go through the motions (cue Old Den:D) in the expectation that we'd cruise to victory without getting out of first gear.

The game was horrible to watch, but as long as we regain the work ethic we showed against the Saints I'm happy to treat it as an aberration. Relief after the siren doesn't compare to joy (a la Eagles and Dogs games), but it certainly beats humiliation.

Brennan was very, very bad but Riska was pretty terrible also with only 14 touches and 3 tackles.

More to the point, I can barely remember any of Riska's disposals actually hitting one of his team mates on the full.

According to the Fox Footy commentators, we had our best team in on the weekend. Apparently Leuenberger, Rich, McGrath & Golby don't rate.
All fringe players of course.

Can include Staker in that list...

Just read the game day thread......just love a game day thread.....

Glad we played poorly and got over the line against the nuns - we should re-focus quite well for this weeks game.

Wish we had Rich in the team....

LIONS!

Adam Scott may have let the British Open old claret jug slip from his hands but young Pearce Hanley looked pretty happy in the knowledge that the Qclash trophy didn't slip out of the Lions possession!

I thought Charlie Dixon was really good for them in defence. Unfortunately him showing good signs now as a defender will probably mean we won't get a crack at him.

Also it is very surprising that Hudson didn't get any votes from the coaches. I thought he almost single handedly willed us over the line in the last quarter.

Besides the game, which everyone has covered ad nauseum and yes, it was terrible, and IMO, Cornelius was not as bad as some are making out, yet Brown escapes any sort of criticism, my biggest concern is Polec. How on earth was this guy taken at pick 5 and why. I reckon the best we can hope for here, and not taken with a too dissimilar pick, is an Aaron Fiora type soft plodder...maybe a tad harsh, but I have yet to see anything that suggests otherwise.

Also, only 16,000 for such a game is terrible and must be a concern for AFL HQ.

Honestly not sure how Prestia got a vote, Think he kicked it out on the full more then everyone combined.

Nah. He's clearly still learning. No doubt it was an awful game for him on the weekend, but he's shown more than enough to demonstrate he's going to be a good player at least. Raking left boot, pace to burn and most importantly can win his own footy. I suspect he will finish the season in the magoos though. Lets give him the benefit of a full pre season too before we write him off totally as an Aaron Fiora.

I'm at the stage now where I'm just going to forget how everyone played on the weekend in terms of their overall form. There's such a long list of those with horrible games, and even those who played well didn't really play well by normal standards. Clearly something was up - whether that be a bad attitude taken into the game, something odd about how Metricon was playing, Suns tactics, or something else, I just think it's a little too odd that seemingly everyone had a stinker, so I'm not really going to critique them much on it. Polec played a shocker, but he's a second year player and to write him off would be the most premature move of the century. I'll wait it out a little longer for him and others.
