I think another talking point from this match is the steady rise of one young Mr Elliot Yeo. He was more prominant in the first half, but after our concerns in the preseason about his ability to hit a target, I think he has come along very very nicely indeed. I get the feeling that picking him up was a bit of a gamble, but it seems to be paying off.

He can definitely hit a target. Many times now I have seen him kick out of the back 50 to hit a teammate in space on the run in the middle of 2 or three opposition players. On top of this, he is getting more opportunities to show off his speed and athletic ability.

I'm on board. :thumbsu:

He looks ok, seems composed under Pressure and looks to choose the right options.

On last night, we saw the emergence of Harwood, Yeo and Wrigley. All three were incredibly composed when the opposition kept entering the defensive 50. I think the case with the Lions right now, is that we have too many skinny blokes and not enough genuine muscle in the team.
Yeo, Crisp, Wrigley, Redden, Karnezis, and to a lesser extent, Drummond.

We saw too many Lions supporters getting bumped off the contest last night by the stronger Richmond players. It was frustrating. I think Green was awesome in his pressure up forward. Green + Zorko will be a deadly combination, if only Banfield can improve. :(

Yeah I really like Yeo. Great all round ability. Very excited about him and Polec on the wings in about 4 or 5 years.

Frustrating? Clearly Voss is really scraping the bottom of the barrel if he's resorted to fielding supporters these days, particularly if it was Acuguy or Luthor.

Also concerned about how many of our supporters turning up to the game.

Out of the 22,000 - How many were Richmond fans? 6000? 8000?

Even the quality of our fans is questionable, never mind the quantity!

(Yes, I am still upset by that comment that moron made last night).

I'm always saddened when our fans leave before the final siren. Was good though when some loud mouthed Tigers fans left and said "thanks for the win Brisbane" to which one fan replied "at least we didn't lose to the Suns". Needless to say the Tigers fan was quiet while he was leaving. I personally stay till the final siren because I am there to support my team regardless of the outcome.

As much as it annoys the crap out of my family when they come to the footy with me, I always stay and see the boys off the field.

It makes me sad when fans leave early, losing isn't that bad.

Not sure what the Brisbane fans are like but in all my years of going to the footy I've never had an issue or seen one from a Lions fan in Melbourne.

Our crowds always look worse on TV as the opposition fans will be at ground level in the Southern stand in the pockets or behind the goals. There's many more Lions supporters on the top levels.

It always sounds worse as our crowds are full of cardigan knitting bitties who turn around and give you the death stare if you call an opposition player a squib at the top of your lungs.

Agreed!

We need to get loud Lions!

There were a couple of "fans" in my row who packed up and left at the 22nd minute mark of the third quarter. Pretty pathetic.

There was also a woman who was a few rows behind me who was yelling out at Angus Johnson to "sack voss" at the end of the game. Admittedly a wasted effort at the top level of the stadium but there you go. She also called someone a w***er, either me who was shaking my head at it all or Angus or voss.

We have an inherent disadvantage here in the very wide gap between the NEAFL and AFL standard. Bridging this gap is obviously very difficult on the job. Look at the number of times Karnezis has been dropped, then promoted. Lisle, who tried very hard last night, was a bit like a kangaroo in the spotlight at times.

Hold the phone!!! The Swans sit on top of the AFL and their Reserves play in the Eastern Conference of the NEAFL which is miles behend the Northern Conference.

Thats an excuse and not a reason

I think he was referring to the NEAFL being better than what peeps were suggesting. ;)

I don't know what it's like in Brissy, but down here in Vic, the fans are great. Passionate & Loyal. From what I can see on my TV, the Brissy fans are outnumbered alot of the time. Are they just not turning up or what?

After every goal Caiphus and I lead a chant that was very popular in GA (How bout <insert goal scorers name here>? He's allright..). It's been less so this year in the snooty members area we sit in (Section 29), but is starting to gain traction. The birds that sit next to us had committed to joining in the chant if we kicked the goal to put us in the lead last night.

But there is probably a dozen or so others who join in when the they get a bit excited and forget to golf clap...
