Unless this situation turns around before the TV deal expires, I think we've had it. Around the world, such sports deals are now being regarded as really over valued, and I'd be surprised if the AFL will get such a favourable deal next time, and hence there will be a lot less dough around.
Would a premiership for us really help turn around our finances? If so, surely we must target season 2005 (and be right up there in season 2004). This would also probably see out Grant & West, too.
If so, should we revise our trade thinking eg going for a Lade or Keating for our second round pick instead of tall, long term prospects?
Do we now have the luxury of "untouchable" players if the right deal comes up to help us get a premiership?
