Buckley Shock Sacking 15/9/2017
After a shock loss to Essendon in the Semi Final on the weekend Nathan Buckley has left the Collingwood Football Club, in a press conference today when asked why he had decided to leave the club Nathan had this to say, "I feel the time is right for the club to get an injection of new ideas, tactics and general thinking, I've run my course as Senior Coach here, it's time to move on to other things."
Many reporters have speculated that this means he has offers on the table from other clubs, some even saying he was spotted at Punt Road earlier in the week. Collingwood will now start searching for a new Head Coach

Collingwood Hire Swan as new coach 29/9/2017
You read that right, Collingwood FC has hired former Brownlow Medallist and Club Champion Dane Swan as their new Senior Coach.
"It's definitely an outside the box and unique choice, but we felt someone who knew the playing group and was close to the club would be the best decision going forward," Collingwood President Eddie Maguire said at the press conference.
"You've always been one that causes trouble for coaches and never seemed like returning to a role like this when you retired, what made you take up the job?" One reporter from FOX Footy asked.
"I was missing footy, that's it really, and having been in contact with the club they encouraged me to apply and here we are now. It's going to be a big learning curve but I'm looking forward to it," Swan replied
When asked about the upcoming trade and draft period and what types of players he'd be looking to bring in Swan had this to say, "We'll be looking to bring in young players that fill a need for us, we're not afraid to trade our high end draft picks, but we're also no afraid to trade some our better players for picks, we're not ruling any scenario out."
"And what about your friendship with Dustin Martin, could that be something you use to bring him over?" AFL Media asked Swan,
"I'll definitely be calling Dusty, but I'm not sure the Tigers would like that."

Riewoldt and Prestigiacomo, Pies on Board 3/10/2017
It's something no one could have ever imagined but it's a reality now, Nick Riewoldt has joined the Collingwood Football Club as a Specialist Coach, said to be mentoring the Forward line in skills of marking, goalkicking and leading the former saints man was thirlled to have joined the club.
"It's a great opportunity for me, getting to help mould young forwards like Darcy Moore into great players," Nick reponded, "Of course I would have loved to be part of the St.Kilda setup butr they had no room to accommodate me."
Simon Prestigiacomo has also signed on said to be in a similiar role with the backline, after playing 233 games for the club between 1996-2010, both have signed 2 year contracts

Malthouse back in Black (and White) 6/10/2011
After being replaced by Nathan Buckley in 2012 Michael Malthouse has returned to Collingwood as the new Defensive Coach, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge from his time in coaching, Malthouse was unavailable to comment but sent out a tweet to address the appointment 'Very pleased to be back at the Collingwood Football Club for 2018 and beyond #BlackandWhite #Bigthingtocome'
Also joining Collingwood as the new Midfield Coach is Nathan Grogan

Trade Week Begins 24/10/2017
Trade Week has begun and Etihad Stadium will be a who's who of AFL Coaches, List Managers and Player Agents. Will we see any big moves and shocks, or will we have another quiet trade period?

For the trade week post I will be time stamping the 'articles'. I won't do individual articles for small movements amongst other clubs but if something big goes through it will get a feature article

Pendlebury the Tiger?
24/10/2017 10:30 am

The trade period silly season has begun and the first shocking call has been made, Scott Pendlebury and Pick 25 to Richmond in exchange for Dustin Martin and Picks 40 and 57. This story comes as new coach Dane Swan claimed he would be 'calling Dusty' to see if he would consider joining the magpies.

Gold Coast confirms Colliongwood trade offer 24/10/2017 12 pm
Gold Coast list manager Scott Clayton confirmed on AFL Trade Radio today that Collingwood are shopping Scott Pendlebury around.
"We received an offer from Collingwood that involved Scott Pendlebury, and I've heard other list managers say the same thing" Clayton claimed, we're only a couple of hours in and this is already shaping up to be an interesting Trade Week.

Greenwood to 'Don the Sash' 24/10/2017 12:15 pm
The first deal of trade week has been completed with C0llingwoods' Levi Greenwood going to Essendon in exchange for pick 33.
"We feel this is a fair deal," Adrian Dodoro said to reporters, "Levi is a player that we have had interest in all year and when we were made aware his services were available we knew we were going to get him."

Mackenzie, Wells straight swap 24/10/2017 3:30 pm
The West Coast Eagles have added some midfield class to their list with the capture of former Kangaroo and now Magpie Daniel Wells, in return Collingwood have gained Eric Mackenzie in a deal described as 'perfect' by West Coast coach Adam Simpson." It was really the perfect deal for us and Collingwood. We needed someone of his (Daniel Wells) calibre and Collingwood needed some backline depth."

Swan, "We're getting a Key Forward" 25/10/2017 10:50 am
Collingwood coach Dane Swan has gone on the record today by stating, "Like I've said we'll be addressing needs, Key forwards are a need for us at the moment so we're getting a key forward."
When asked about the possibility of Captain Scott Pendlebury moving on Swan responded, "Scott is not only required, but essential to this team, there aren't many better players in the competition, all these 'stories' of him moving are just rumours, and won't be anything more than rumours."

Second Day provides no trades 25/10/2017 6 pm
The second day of trade week has come to an end and there was no movement, only rumours. however we're lead to believe that deals seeing both Trent Cotchin and Dayne Beams brought to St.Kilda are nearing completion, with both expected to go through early tomorrow

2 captains, 1 club 26/10/2017 9:30 am
As reported yesterday Trent Cothcin and Dayne Beams have both found themselves at the St.Kilda Football Club which shoots them right into contention for the flag next season. Trent Cotchin came from Richmond for Dylan Roberton and Picks 39 and 56, while Beams was brought in from Brisbane in exchange for Tom Hickey as well as picks 22 and 73. When asked about the trades St.Kilda coach Alan Richardson had this to say, "We felt that our midfield was far too weak last year and bring in both Trent and Dayne, two of the best midfielders in the competition, addresses that problem area. Dylan Roberton and Tom Hickey were both fantastic players and loyal servants of the club, but you don't get in quality without giving up quality.

Dahlhaus runs from Kennel 26/10/2017 10:30 am
Just an hour after two mega deals were announced we have another confirmed trade with Bulldog Luke Dahlhaus heading to the Blues in exchange for Picks 18, 54 and 71.

Riewoldt packs sunscreen, worried about the burn 26/10/2017 1pm
Another massive departure from the Richmond Football Club sees cult figure Jack Riewoldt heading north to the sunshine state joining Brisbane Lions in exchange for Mitch Robinson as well as Picks 22 and 73, which they only received this morning from St.Kilda.

Pies add Brown 26/10/2017 5 pm
Right on the deadline of the 3rd day in trade week Collingwood has snatched up North Melbournes' Ben Brown in a deal seeing Picks 13 and 32 heading the other way. Ben Brown spoke to us exclusively about the move.
"I'm really stoked to be joining such a big club, it's every players dream to win a premiership and this move takes me one step closer to doing that, I look forward to a long career here."

Suns beef up with Gibbs 27/10/2017 2 pm
In a quiet day so far on the trade front Gold Coast and Essendon have pulled off a shock exchange seeing Bryce Gibbs and Pick 74 heading to the sunshine coast for Pick 18

Tomahawk Tiger 28/10/2017 10 am
Former father-son selection Tom Hawkins has swapped Simmonds Stadium for Punt Road in yet another shock move this trade period, seeing that Pick 22 is now at Geelong

Rockliff a pie 29/10/2017 2 pm
Another blow for Brisbanes midfield department sees star player and former captain Tom Rockliff and Pick 25 heading to the pies, but it's not all bad news as promising midfielder Taylor Adams as well as picks 33 and 49 head their way.
"This was a neccesary move," Magpies coach Dane Swan said," Taylor is a great player and an even better bloke, but we needed someone with a bit more grunt and aggression in the engine room and he wasn't going to provide us with that."

Trade Week Wraps up 29/20/2017 5pm
Another exciting Trade week has come and gone with plenty of shock moves and rumours about we will be analysising every clubs Trade Week over the next few days

Unfortunately I lost all the screenshots with the transfer data =(. Meaning I can't do trade analysis on all the other teams so I've decided to just do Collingwood.

Collingwood Trade Analysis 3/11/2017

Ins: Tom Rockliff (Brisbane), Ben Brown (North Melbourne), Eric Mackenzie (West Coast)
Outs: Taylor Adams (Exchanged for Tom Rockliff), Daniel Wells (Exchanged for Eric Mackenzie), Levi Greenwood (Exchanged for Pick 33 to Essendon)
Grade: B+

Comments: Collingwood addressed there largest issue this trade period, lack of Key Position depth, with experienced Full Back Eric Mackenzie from West Coast Eagles, a West Coast BnF winner, Mackenzie is the perfect partner for Ben Reid and mentor for up and coming key defender Sam Mclarty. Young Key Forward Ben Brown is definitely a good get, he will prove a valuable and worthy partner for Darcy Moore for years to come. Tom Rockliff adds some grunt and aggression in the team which was really missing last year. When asked about this years trade period Collingwood Coach Dane Swan had this to say, " We identified what our list needed and what we could spare to fill those needs. Both Daniel and Levi weren't going to get much game time this year anyway, so we cashed in at the right time. Taylor is an unfortunate loss but we needed Tom and Brisbane weren't budging, it was Taylor or no one."

Meiris teaching pies tap 10/11/2017
Teddy Meiris has been brought on board as the new Collingwood Ruck coach, replacing Anthony Rocca who previously filled the position. Dane Swan's new look coaching panel is a clear indication that the club is aiming for bigger things next season

Who goes number 1? 26/11/2017
The question on everyone's lips tonight is who will be the number 1 pick? Carlton hold the pick and having a look at their list we're predicting it to be midfielder Christian Fudgell of the Calder Cannons, AFL Draft expert Callum Twoomy had this to say on the prospect, " Fudgell is an exciting player with a huge upside, he is a powerfully built inside midfielder that can go forward and sneak a few goals in, if I had to compare him to a current AFL player it'd be Patrick Dangerfield."

Simpson goes Number 1 26/11/2017
Carlton pulled off a pretty surprising selection at pick 1 going with Trenton Simpson, who played for Eastern Ranges in the TAC Cup. The young Key Forward has been likened to Taylor Walker from Adelaide with Callum Twoomy reporting, "Simpson is clearly the best Key Position prospect in the draft this year, showing all the qualities of an elite Key Forward, his only downside is his strength, but he makes up for that with speed and
agility

Collingwood go with Swan, Abbott 27/11/2017
With only 1 pick in the top 50 it was never going to be a draft to remember for Collingwood, but they shocked everyone with two fairly good picks. At pick 25 the pies chose Rohan Swan from Western Jets, who has been likened to Dustin Martin and his new coach Dane Swan with, "Elite positioning, hard at contests and always a danger around goal, Rohan is the perfect midfielder, capable of playing inside and outside, as well as sneaking forward and snagging a couple of goals, his only real downside is his pace," Derek Hine said on the new draftee. At Pick 66 the pies picked up Cameron Abbott, a young key forward from Swan Districts in Western Australia. Hines comments on Abbott weren't so kind, "He's definitely a project player, he's got a fantastic mark but is going to need time in the VFL to beef up and learn to use his size."

Preseason and Rookie Drafts key, says Hine 5/12/2017
Collingwood List Manager Derek Hine was today speaking on SEN and was asked by one of the presenters about the current list at Collingwood, pointing out the lack of depth in the ruck department.
"The preseason and rookie drafts are key for us, they always have been as we feel there's a lot of talent that slips through. We've left enough money in the salary cap and spots on the senior list that we can upgrade if we need to," Hine responded to the question, "In hindsight we probably should have brought a ruck in through the trade period or draft but we simply didn't have time."

Roughead, Daw different coloured stripes 13/12/2017
Hawthorn Champion and former captain Jarryd Roughead has had a wild season, after being told he wouldn't be getting a contract renewal and not being picked up in the trade period he thought his AFL career was done, but he was tonight picked by Collingwood in the preseason draft. Majak Daw was another selection made by Collingwood, who is expected to play ruck for his time at the club

Pies pick up quality in Rookie Draft 15/12/2017
Collingwood had seemingly picked up some very good picks in the rookie draft selecting former Essendon midfielder Kobe Mutch, two of last years Colliongwood rookies Ben Crocker and Max Lynch and Williamstowns ruckman Billy Frampton

Hine Out, Bowley In 20/12/2017
Collingwood have sacked Derek Hine and brought in former Geelong list manager Colin Bowley. "While everyone at the club loved Derek and wishes him all the best for the future our coaching staff thought he wasn't good enough at managing his scouts, with two scouts going to the same game on more than one occasion," Eddie Maguire said in the press conference

Collingwood Game Write Up by Dane Swan
It was a pretty disappointing start to the year with our first hit out against an opposition team a heavy defeat. We had the best of it in the first quarter with Captain Scott Pendlebury kicking the first goal we leads by 7 points going in to the break. In the second quarter is was all Adelaide as they kicked 6 goals and 2 points to our 1 goal and 2 points. Some individual performances worth praise are Scott Pendlebury and newly appointed Vice-Captain Adam Treloar who both racked up 35 disposals and were non-stop all day and our youngster Rohan Swan who got 8 disposals and 4 trackles, which all gave us free kicks.
