IMO its not Roo its just a general lack of confidence from never being a regular player. Id love him to be guaranteed a game for the rest of the season to see wether he builds up his confidence or wether he just isn't up to it. 2 weeks for StKilda then 2 weeks for Sandy isn't helping his confidence or helping us figuring out if he can make it or not.Does anyone else get the impression that when Roo retires (or moves to the wing), Stanley will become a much more effective and confident player.
A couple of times he didn't jump for the ball because Roo was at the same contest.
It looks to me like he's holding back a lot because he is so junior in the FWD line.
I'd be happy with a 2-3 goal per game average from him for the rest of his career.

I've been saying that for years, Nick did the exact same thing to Kosi, it also tends to drag 2 more opposition bodies to the contest and they mop it up.yeah i saw that also and another few where he was in prime position to take the mark and Nick cuts across to make a 50% chance at marking it, TBH Nick it as detrimental to the team as he is good for it
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...-forwards-career/story-fni5f9q3-1226994769043The stagnating big man had slotted just three goals from his past nine matches either side of stint in the VFL as St Kilda fans wondered if he would ever cash in on flashes of talent.
Last night Stanley knifed Fremantle, threw its home final hopes into chaos and set up the Saints’ party as they breathed new life into the wooden spoon race.
Stanley might not have slotted a second-half goal as his side’s Etihad Stadium shindig roared out of control but he wrote the invitations late in the first quarter and brought the firecrackers and the froffs in the second.
The 204cm Saint entered the 58-point rout with a career-best of two goals.
Stanley, 23, walked off at half-time with three to his name with the last restoring a 40-point lead and ensuring the Dockers would have to rewrite history to extend St Kilda’s losing streak to 12.
It was slotted after ex-teammate Zac Dawson ran through the mark to bring Stanley within 55m – and range – to cap the most scintillating St Kilda half since Fremantle coach Ross Lyon sat in its box.
In the three seasons Lyon coached Stanley he played nine games for eight wins and the four-time Grand Final coach must be flying back to Perth shaking his head at the show Stanley put on.
Lyon started 2012 All-Australian Luke McPharlin on the aggressive forward..
When Stanley found space despite 33 players occupying his attacking 50 to mark a Nick Riewoldt stab and slot his second the move was made.
Lyon switched All-Australian’s with last year’s member Michael Johnson heading to the damaging target but he too was helpless as Stanley went on to finish with 14 marks (three contested) in a replica of Jarrad Waite’s stunning performance the night before.
Stanley’s numbers mirrored champion Nick Riewoldt while he even won 13 hitouts as he rolled through the ruck
His clean, high-flying marking was the standout, but Stanley’s supreme work-rate also allowed his mates to revel as well.
Dat marking.
