Was very sad to hear news of Ric's passing. Ric was team manager for over 10 years and was one of those people who make our club the great club it is today.

Ric was always up for a chat at training. Deepest sympathy to his family and those at the club.

RIP Ric. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Always had a smile for everyone.

Let's keep this purely as a RIP/condolences thread.

Well I only know Ric from his time at Box Hill, before he was promoted to Hawthorn. I can tell you that he was a mad Hawthorn supporter - when he got the gig at Box hill, he was absolutely rapt to be part of it.

He was a true gentleman, a warm and friendly, lovable guy.

I'm sure the players would be devastated.

I have known Ric since the mid to late 1960s when we cheered our mighty Hawks from behind the goals in front of the Dr A S Ferguson Stand at Glenferrie. Ric was a dedicated Hawthorn supporter who also supported Box Hill and as a result BH recognized him by inviting him to become the team manager. Ric excelled at the role and was rewarded with the dream role as full time team manager of his beloved Hawks. Ricco's friendship, support and humour will be greatly missed by everyone at Hawthorn. RIP my friend with all the wonderful memories of the years you supported and worked for Hawthorn and Box Hill.

How do I PM you Grizz?

While I am mindful (and generally accepting) of divergent opnions, given the circumstances, I'm asking people to either post condolences or not at all.

I didn't know him, but somehow found out who he was when he used to post on this board and another. He was in that elite category of 'posters' that could be analytical and intelligent in commentary and yet wonderfully 'one-eyed' in their commitment to the cause. He wrote well, argued thoughtfully, cheered enthusiastically and treated all with respect and sensitivity.
When I saw he'd become part of the team - Box Hill, then Hawthorn - it seemed only right and proper. I am not surprised he was good at what he did, nor that he will be sorely missed. He was truly a Hawthorn man ... a bond, I'm proud to say, I believe we share.

I will say it again, please be very mindful of what you post in this thread in regards to this news.

Clearly, quite a few people amongst this board will be quite shocked by this article.

Please respect that.

Yes, I understand your request for condolence messages only, but this type of news kinda puts a different spin on things..

Very sad for all involved...

As for me, joined in 2011 and then had my 2nd child and suppose I just didn't find the time.. use to post under a different user id as well..

Condolences and I'm sure very much relief to all involved that he is now gone.

No need to apologise, some of us are decidedly frothy at the mouth when it comes to posting on this site...:p
Important news so appreciated it was added at this moment, I myself would certainly rather not celebrate this man's life if the allegations are shown to be true.
So I will hold off either way until then.

I personally would like to see this thread locked or deleted.

The circumstances around Ric's death are in the public domain. We are mostly all adults here and we should deal with it like adults.
