Rich or Hurley

Neither club would be unhappy with who they got. If the draft was redone now you would pick who suited your needs more, a KPP or a midfielder. I'm sure Essendon would still pick Hurley and Brisbane would probably pick Rich

Excellent Post:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Tom scully now officially has some competition.

I doubt Scully will win it next year - he's a very skinny inside player who is only really a little bit ahead of some of the other draftees. If I was going to place a bet now, it would be on Trengove, Martin or Morabito for their respective body sizes and their comparative outside abilities.

Or maybe alot of people think he's a better player?

I wouldn't say he is the better player.....yet. Whilst Rich is clearly the better player atm I would much prefer Hurley and was shattered when Essendon took him ahead of Carlton (although I am happy with Yarran I just had my heart set on Hurley, still finding it tough to get over lol).

How about Clark vs Hurley rather than two players of completely different qualities? People are going to probably pick Hurley if they dont have decent bookends while those that do will probably pick Rich.

FWIW think Hurley will be a beaut player.

Maybe because they were just taken in the same draft?
Same age?

No, by all means compare him to the older Clark, a bloke playing in the ruck?

WTF? How can Hurley be winning the poll? He has played a couple of good games and now he can be rated "better" than Rich who has been consistent for the entire season. The Rising Star winner will prove this to be correct.

Because the poll was not who would win the rising star.

Hurley reminds me so much of Pavlich at the same age

He will be the most valuable utility in the comp for the next decade

I've watched a few kids come through over the years since watching footy closely as a young tacker from about 1995 onwards... I'm struggling to think of a player at the age of 19 casually flicking the ball up to himself, take a few steps and nail it from 50+ ... on his non-preferred foot.

2 left foot goals I believe. The last player I rated as being awesome on both feet was Knights himself.

Rich was always touted that he had a great kick on both sides, but his left seems to have dissapeared. Maybe it's there but can't do those leathal 60m stabs. WTB 60m stabs passes to Hurley!

Hurley, simply because if we didn't draft him Carlton would have.

Source?

I think the only club that missed on the tall they wanted is Essendon...

You wanted Trengove, but had to "settle" for Zaharakis after Port beat you to your man.

Look at Merv's post on that topic...

Carlton may have rated Yarran and Hurley as hard to split.

After all, four clubs passed on Hurley because he has some flaws in his game and lacks Watts' pace and motor.

Slow player can get quicker, but will never be sprinters.

Weight and you'll see with Hunt

Andrew Weller, who worked at St Kilda for five years, said Hunt's strength and explosive speed meant re-shaping his body for Australian football would be a simpler task than trying to turn an endurance athlete into an AFL player.

"The other important thing is that you can train sprinters to run marathons, but marathon runners can't become sprinters. Fast-twitch fibres have a better capacity to change and become aerobic-type fibres, whereas if you're slow, you can get faster, but you'll never have sprinters' capabilities.

Play Hurley on Franklin, Naitanui or a physically mature Watts who is fast...

And Yarran wouldn't have kicked that goal on his wrong foot from fifty. ;)

His presence far surpasses his 9 games total and you can already tell he has great respect from the coaches and the players at EFC.

There's a guy who commentates at MMM and hosts TFS who has a man crush on Hurley. Hurley reminds me a lot of him!
