Rich - Poor when it counts

Is the pope catholic?

Is water wet?

Is Jack Watts into broadway musicals?

I suspect you're right, but surely Melbourne supporters would be better off targeting someone who hasn't surpassed their entire playing list.

Like Travis? He only surpassed 99 percent of their list. ;)

laughable what a farce that things become.

Quite so.... the longer it goes on, the stupider they look.

Now they're trying to salve their deep-seated insecurities about little old us by repeating the same lines about Rich/TJ/whoever supposedly being better than every single Demons player over and over again.

No other credible poster on the Bay seems to be buying it, but hopefully it will serve an important psychological purpose for them.

Maybe if they repeat and repeat for several more months, they might come out of it a little less insecure, and then even be capable of normal conversations about AFL matters.

But I'm not too hopeful yet...

Based on tonights pathetic showing by Butterball Rich, I have calculated that for the little piglet to get enough votes to win a Brownlow the Lions would need to win approximately 52 games in a season.

And for Watts to win the Brownlow the Demons would have to win...

No doubt of course that these Pavlovian Lions fans will continue to reply and reply and reply until their insecurities are overcome, which may take some time.

But the trouble for them is that every time they continue to come back to this thread, they just reinforce the obvious bankruptcy of their position ;)

A strange attempt to move the goalposts there Wonna. Can I try?

"If Wonna posts in this thread again, it means he wears a pink tutu."

Wonna, you seem like a logical person. Would it not make more sense to shift your focus and start trolling a player who hasn't outperformed your entire list? It seems to me that every time you troll Rich you are just giving your own club a kick in the head. If you target on one of our later draft picks the trolling might have a bit more credibility.

Don't get defensive, it's just a suggestion.

Well first off, do you actually believe that any player in a team that finished bottom this season, no matter how good they are, is going to poll huge numbers in the Brownlow?

In other words, do you actually think, seriously, that this is somehow a reliable measure of a player's ability relative to another?

Secondly, the trolling of Rich is, in part, a way of pointing out how ridiculous and stupid the obsessive trolling of our young players, particularly Watts, by certain posters is.

Hence my Chewbacca posting, which was a way of highlighting how ludicrous and nonsensical the continued obsession by said posters has become.

This thread has no less credibility than any of the 10,000 lame and IQ-draining threads about Watts/other young Demons players IMO.

That's a circular argument. If you had better players you would have won more games.

So when a Brisbane supporter starts a thread about Watts, its obsession.

But when a Melbourne supporter starts a thread about Rich it's just to make a clever statement?

Do you really believe this stuff as you type it?

10,000 threads & millions of posts endlessly repeated > 1 thread.

That would be a succinct way of replying to this particular argument.

That would be a succinct way of replying to this particular argument.

It would also be completely fallacious.

Actually, it'd be a way of highlighting the tremendous difference in volume of posts and threads through dramatic exaggeration.

One could argue that Melbourne, being a team that has collected back to back spoons would naturally necessitate more threads on Bay13 than a team that made it to the finals and did a little damage while they were there.

:)

My point still stands. Even if you are only trolling to get revenge because a few posters have been mean to Watts, would it still not be in your best interests to target someone who hasn't achieved more than your entire playing list. Would the trolling not have more of an impact if it was based on something credible?

TBD, one could also argue that the deep focus by fans of said club on our particular club, to a much greater degree than any other group of posters on BF, in spite of the fact that, as you say, your club reached the finals, also makes a point about the current psychological state of certain posters, vis-a-vis insecurity, and the entrenchment thereof ;)

Would the trolling not have more of an impact if it was based on something credible? (excluding fallacious assertion contained within the original post)

Not really, since this is more a matter of spotlighting the sheer lack of credibility possessed by Brisbane trolls and others in this regard, by lampooning that fact.

But surely I could draw interesting psychological conclusions from the fact that you felt the need to post in the "Melbourne Bay13 bunker" thread 20 times just to tell us that you didn't care?

You really need to turn your logic on yourself occassionally. :D

OK, THAT was well played :D:thumbsu:

Consider yourself raised at least a notch on my personal scale

I think it is more that you don't want to face up to the fact that your players aren't very good. How can you hold on to the fantasy that you have the best youngsters when your entire list was outgunned by a first year player from another club?

Edited for truth :)

Again, if you truly believe that the only measure of a player's ability OR potential, relative to another, is the amount of Brownlow votes they receive in any given year, then your knowledge of the way things work in the AFL, and general knowledge of Aussie Rules Football, is very shaky and highly questionable, I would say.
