Rich - Poor when it counts

Again, if you truly believe that the only measure of a player's ability OR potential, relative to another, is the amount of Brownlow votes they receive in any given year, then your knowledge of the way things work in the AFL is somewhat shaky at best, I would say.

It seems you are keen to steer clear of objective measures.

LOL- sure, you two have JUST discovered that people on the Bay often exaggerate things and post some comments which they're not 100% serious about - I kinda figure that's what you lot do almost all the time here really... :p

About to head off for the night, but I'll do you a deal - if you all start talking seriously about these things, then maybe you might get to find out what I actually think about a player like Rich...

Hurley/Pears > Rich

Brisbane's future looks bleak indeed. When Black and Power retire and Rich gets a tag, no more downhill skiiing = career over for Rich. :thumbsu:

Thats when he comes back to play for the team he loves.

Naits/Swift > Hurley/Pears

Again, if you truly believe that the only measure of a player's ability OR potential, relative to another, is the amount of Brownlow votes they receive in any given year, then your knowledge of the way things work in the AFL, and general knowledge of Aussie Rules Football, is very shaky and highly questionable, I would say.

Based on tonights pathetic showing by Butterball Rich, I have calculated that for the little piglet to get enough votes to win a Brownlow the Lions would need to win approximately 52 games in a season.

Even your fellow members of the MFB are turning on you.

This might be true but soon he won't have Black, Brown, Power, TJ & the rest to hide behind & he will be exposed.

Lets make it that he plays 22 games but starts on 20 votes so we can enjoy seeing him overtaken by round 13.

Crimzon Azure, this is good trolling. Melbourne don't have any good players to lose, so I don't have a comeback.:(

Ahhh... alas, my return sees Brisbane posters and assorted limpets performing just barely above the level of a defective Chatty Cathy doll.

Oh well, maybe that serious discussion Grim was desperately longing for will become possible at a later date! :)

All my comments about Melbourne not being very good were just in jest. Seriously, they are awesome.

Damn... I tried to change the setting on these dolls to something more edifying, but it seems to be jammed on all of them! Like I said, defective and shoddy construction. Still, what can you do.

I'll just have to keep making the running on this thread ;)

Anyway, here's a dedication to Daniel, from the great Iggy Pop...

Wonna, which Melbourne players, if any, do you think had a better year than Daniel Rich?

A serious posting! I thought all hope was lost :thumbsu:

Well, would you want to talk about players who've been on the field for the vast majority of the season, or otherwise? Because obviously we've had a Christ of a lot of injuries.

And I'm kinda wondering how much you've seen of our team, for that matter... because it doesn't sound like you know much about our players from what I've seen of your postings thus far

Well I guess I'm hoping that when I do talk about players of ours in this context, that you might in fact have any kind of knowledge about them when I do.

Otherwise I'll feel like I'm trying to explain the concept of the Internet to an Amish person...

Just answer the ****ing question.

This.

So in other words you are about to unload a shit-tonne of excuses and are pre-emptively deriding anybody who does not subscribe to their validity?

Well I'm pretty sure I'll just get more ignorant blather in response, but, yeah, Sylvia, Davey, Frawley, Moloney and Jones (and Morton, to a fair degree) are some I'd name as having had very good seasons, out of those who were available for most of the year. But there weren't many of our players who weren't out for a fair whack of the time through injury.

I do expect more irrelevant waffle about Brownlow votes, ladder position, dodgy YouTube clips etc. in response to this post, but I've posted it nonetheless...

Yes, give him a head start - just like the AFL gave the Lions of course ;)

So even by your own admission (at lets be honest, you aren't exactly known for being impartial) Rich has outperformed all bar 6 of your entire playing list in his first year.
