I've seen quite a bit of both sides this season and I think the better group are the three Lions.

Not pushing elite yet but they have shown more than the Melbourne group thus far for mine.

Right now, from what I've seen, the Brisbane players, but fairly sure they have all had much longer in the system than the melbourne contingent.

Also the fact that Scully is injured helps your cause.

The R's of brisbane are all classy players, but I reckon in the long run, Melbournes will be too.

still too early to call, but last year I thought Trengrove would do a Selwood and become elite very quickly but seems too be doing the 2nd "blues" or levelling out a little like most youngsters do. Will still be a champ...just needs more time then I expected.

Scully looked on fire late last year with 40 touch games...injured so no point suggesting what his form this year will be, but will proberlu have to wait a mth back into his return to see where he is at.

Gysberts...honestly, I don't know a whole lot about this kid. Looks handy the few times I watch him.

Rich...people think watts has undue pressure on him, well say hello to Rich. Won the rising star in a canter as a link man from middle to forwards in 2009. In 2010 had a bigger year in the middle with hard ball gets and all a unheralded stuff with his stats actually improving much beyond peoples belief. In 2011 he is now our #1 mid and takes a whole lot of attention and pressure most if not all other 2008 drattes would dream of...Always gets compared to Hill with freo supporters always feeling some strange need to justify why they past on Rich...I bet Rich would like to play outside in a top 8 team!

Redden...Inetersting that the Lions past on beams to draft him. But looks the polished goods and in 2011 is adding alot more outside game to his impressive inside.

Rockliff...was hyped up in the draft with huge games teaming up with sidebottom in the TAC cup. But somehow the lions got him in the rookie draft...absoulte amazing! A good unattractive hard runner...the lions best chance to have a Swan like player in 5 years

Overall, I think both teams would be happy with the youngsters they have...although the demons had a chance to get Martin. Still both groups look pretty balanced, and give both supporters alot to cheer for. I like the Lions boys because I get to watch them all the time...Im sure the demons supporters with a mountain of time spent watching their kids grow will be the same with their kids

watch them when they vs richmond they are pushing for elite
Judd, Ablett, Bartel, Swan, Pendlebury, Joel Selwood, Riewoldt(s), Pavlich, Brown, Sandilands, Franklin, Scarlett, Cooney

These are examples of elite players.

How Redden and Rockliff are knocking at the doors of these names is beyond me and probably the rationale of any two eyed football fan.

Rich, on the other hand, is pushing into the upper echeleon of players. Possily elite in the next few years

I agree...Im not sure whose posts you are referring to...This thread is obviously about comparing youngsters.

The lions Rich, Rockliff, and Redden are all about 19-20 years old...no player is expected to be elite at that age. Even ablett was still stuck playing as a small forward that that age.

I think the Lions boys are at least 3 years away before we see them play their best footy. We should also have a few more quality youngsters coming through the system with them by then as well like Polec & beams...plus future high draftees

Brisbane boys. Especially Redden and Rockliff, with those boys Brisbane have a bright future awaiting them.
